A dressing which is at once agreeable, healthy, and effectual for preserving tlio hair. Faded or gray hair is soon restored to its original eohr irith ihe gloss and freshness of youth. Thin hair is thick ened, falling hair checked, and bald ness often, though not always, cured by its use. Nothing can restore the hair where the follicles are destroyed, or the glands atrophied and decayed. But such as remain can be saved for usefulness by this application. Instead of fouling the hair with a pasty sedi ment, it will keep it clean and vigorous. Its occasional use will prevent the hair from turning gray or falling off, and consequantly prevent baldness. Free from those deleterious substances which make some preparations dangerous and injurious to the hair, the Vigor can only benefit but not harm it. If wanted merely for a HAIR DRESSING, nothing else can bo found so desirable. Coutaiuing neither oil nor dye, it does not soil white cambric, and yet lasts long ou the hair, giving it a rich glossy lustre aud a grateful perfume. Prepared by Dr. J. C. T HE KIDNEYS; The Kidneys are two in number, aituated at the upper part of the loin, surrounded by fat. and consisting of three parts, viz ; the Anterior, the Interior, and the Exterior. The anterior absorbs. Interior consists of tissue or veins, which serve as a deposit for the arine and convey it to the exterior. The exterior is a conductor also, terminating in a single tub, and called the UreteV. " The ureters are connected with the bladder. The bladder is composed of various cover ings or tissues, divided into parts, vix ; the Upper, the Lower, the Nervous, andtho Mu cous.' The upper expels, the lower retains. Many have a desire to urinate without the ability ; others urinato without the ability to retain. This frequently occurs in chil dren. ... To cure these affections, we must bring into action the muscles, which are engaged in their various functions. If they are ne glected, Gravel or Dropsy may ensue. The reader must also be made aware, that however slight may be the attack, it is sure to affect the bodiiy health and mental pow ers, as our flesh and blood are supported from these sources. GOUT, OR RHEUMATISM. Tain occurring in the loins is indicative of the above diseases. They occur to per sons disposed to acid stomach and chalky concretions. THE GRAVEL. The gravel ensues from neglect of impro per treatment of the kidneys. These organs being weak, the water is not expelled from ihe bladder, but allowed io remain, it be comes feverish, and sediment forms. It is from this deposit that the stone is formed, and gravel ensues. DROPSY. Dropsy is a collection of water in some parts of the body, and bears different names, according to the parts affctlcd. vi2: wleu generally diffused over the body, it is called Anasarce, when of the abdomen, Ascites; when of the chest, Hydrjthorax. TREATMENT. Helmbold's highly concentrated compound Extract Buchu is decidtd'.y one of the best remedies for diseases of the bladder, kidneys, gravel, dropjical swellings rheumatism, nnd gouty affections. Uuder this head we have arranged Dystiria, or difficulty and pain iu passing water. Scanty Secretion, or small and frequent discharge of water ; Strangury, or stopping of water ; Hematuria, or bloody urine; Gout and Rheumatism of the kid neys, without anychangc m quantity, but in crease in color, or dark water. It was al ways highly recomn-.ended by the late Dr. Physick, in these affection. This medicine increases the power of di gestion, and excites the abso'bents into healthy exercise by which the watery or calcareous depositions, and all unuttunil enlargements, as well as pain and inflamma tion, are reduce d and it is taken by tucu wo men and children. Directions for use aud diet accompany. riiiLAnrLrniA, Pa., Feb. 25, 1S07. II. T. Helmuolu, Druggist : Dear St I bave been suffering, for up ward of twenty years, with gravel, bladder, and kidney affection, during which time 1 have used various medical preparations, and been under the trcatmcut of the most eminent Physicians, experiencing but little relief. Having secnyonr preparations extensively advertised, 1 consulted with my family physician in regard to using your Extract Buchu. I did tli is because I had used all kinds of advertised remedies, and had found them worthless, and some quite injurious, in fr.ct 1 despaired of ever gotting well, aud detenu ined 10 use no remedies hereafter unless I knew of the ingredients. It was this that prompted me to use your remedy. As you advertised that it was composed of buchu, cubebs, and juniper berries, it occurcd to me and my physician as an excellent com bination, and, with his advica, aftcran exam ination of the article, aud consulting again with the druggist, I concluded to try it. I commenced its use about eight months ago, at which time I was confined to my room. From the first bottle I was astonished and gratified at the beneficial effect, and after using it three weeks, was able to walk out. 1 folt much like writing you a full statement of my case at the time, but thcuglit my im provement might onty be temporary, and therefore concluded t defer and see if it would effect a perfect cure knowing then it would be of greater value to you, aud more satisfactory to me. I am now able to report that a cure is ef fected after using the remedy for five months. I have not used any now for threo months, and feel as well in all respects as 1 ever did. Your Buchu being devoid of any un pleasant taste aad odor, a nice tonic and in vigorator of the system, 1 do not mean to be without it whenever occasion may require its use in such affections. , . M. The following are selected from thou sands of testimonials of similar character, as expressing the reasons for the prefer ence for the Groveb & Baker Machines over all others. " I like the Grover & Baker Machine, in the first place, because, if I had any other, I should still want aUrover Baker, and, hav ing a Grover 4 Baker, it answers the purpose of all the rest. It does a greater variety of work and it is easier to learn than any other." Mrs. J. C Croly (Jenny June) " I have had seveial years' experience with a Grover 4 Baker Machine, which has given me great satisfaction. 1 think the Grover & Baker Machine is more eaily managed, and less liable to get out of order. 1 prefer the Grovei & Baker, decidedly."-Mr.. Dr. Walts, Sew York. I have had one in my family for some two years, and from what I know of its working", and from the testimony of many of my friends who use the same, I can hardly see how anything could be more complete or give better satisfaction." Mrs General Grant. " I believe it to be the best, ail things con sidered, of any that I have known. It is very simple and easily learned ; the sewing from the ordinary spools is a great advan tage ; the stitch is entirely reliable; it does ornameu'al work beautifully; it is not liable to get out of order." Mrs. A.M. Sjtooner, 3ti lionJ Street, ISroek'yn. " I am acquainted with the work of the principal machines ; and I prefer the Grover i Baker to them all, because I consider the stitch more elastic. I have work now in the house which was done nine years ago, which is still good." Mrs. Dr. MeCrmdy, No. i. Fast Ticenty third Street, Aete York. 'More than two-thirds of all the sewing done in my fairily fjr Ihe last two years has been done hy Grover & Baker's Machine, and I never had a garment rip or need mending, except those rents which frolicsome boys will make in whole cloth. It is in my epinion by far the mist valuable of any I have tried." Mrs. Henry W ard lireeher.
