Very much has been written of this
valley, in reference to its valuable iron ore
deposits, the scenery, eta, but mover in
the history of the southern part•of Berks
has there been such an excitement as has
been g one through with in the last two
weeks, caused by the subject of this arti
cle. Word having reach our office of the
consternation and terror among the in
habitants of Morganstown and vicinity:,
we dispatched a special reporter to learn
the facts connected With the affair, and
wt hate the Mowing t About two weeks
ago a man presenting the appearance of a
huge overgrown bear made his appear
auce on the Welsh mountain, directly op

howling. The citizens becoming
alarmed concluded to catch him if possi-

-1..,r of the neighbors assembled, armed

quarks and at times the yells 'from this

dawned the object of their search was no
where to be foetid. Night after night
the same doleful howlings have re-echoed
trough the valley bordering on the
mountain. A few days since he was seen
in a held back of the village, and a num
ber of the citizens started inpursuit and

brought to the hotel of Mr. D. K. Plank.
