Word having reach our office of the consternation and terror among the in habitants of Morganstown and vicinity:, we dispatched a special reporter to learn the facts connected With the affair, and wt hate the Mowing t About two weeks ago a man presenting the appearance of a huge overgrown bear made his appear auce on the Welsh mountain, directly op , 1 ,site the village of Morganstown and ' - male the night - hideous with his Least howling. The citizens becoming alarmed concluded to catch him if possi- Id-. and with this object in view a num -1..,r of the neighbors assembled, armed 1:11 guns, clubs, etc., and started for the lamintain. - . The men were deployed in quarks and at times the yells 'from this half MITI and half beast were so ,cliese to them that they thought it n*ll4' impos idde fur him to escape, yet when morning dawned the object of their search was no where to be foetid. Night after night the same doleful howlings have re-echoed trough the valley bordering on the mountain. A few days since he was seen in a held back of the village, and a num ber of the citizens started inpursuit and tfxertook hiM. Ile was captured and brought to the hotel of Mr. D. K. Plank. nee caught he was very nearly in a nude state, having het a few rags hang ing to his body. The hair on his heads hangs toren his back ; his face is very nearly covered with long bushy hair, ek ing him the appearance of a gorilla more than a human being.
