The Agricultural Society of Bucks County have issued the following: The Board of Managers of the Bucks County Agricultural Society desire to obtain, for the benefit of the members of the society and the public at large, correct information in regard to the agricultural resources of the county, and with this view they propose the questions here with annexed. Answers to them or any portion of them, or any information relating to rural at whether vw.ially called for or not, will be thankfully 1 ., .1ved. How long has the soil of your section been cultivated, and what was its original character as to composition, wetness, dryness, &e., and what were the prevailing species of timber ? -2. What are the principal crops, and what has been the average yield petimcre of your dis trict for the last ten years?' If there has been an increase or a decrease, state how much and from what causes. Also state what kinds of wheat, oats and corn have proved the best in your district 3. What have been the ruling prices of dif ferent kinds of grain, hay, &c., for the last ten years? What the relative cost of the different kinds of crops, and which have been the most profitable? State what crops are sold, or what portion of certain crops, and in general terms how the remainder is disposed of. 4 What kinds of fruits are cultivated in your section ; what their relative profits, and also the Profits of any kind compared with other crops? State what have been the prices of apples and other fruits, on an average during the last ten yews, and the average per acre fur that time. 5. Are root crops cultivated in your section ? If so, what kinds are preferred, and to what purposes Are they devoted? 6. Has sorghltm or imphee been cultivated with you ? If so, with' what success as to the quantity of syrup, profits per acre, &c., Sc? What kinds of forks or drags for unloading hay from the load, and which has the preference, and why? 20. Are bay.tedders and hay loading ma chines, (machines to put hay on the wagon in the tield,) used in your neighborhood ? If so, what kinds, and with what results? Describe any special improvements which have been made in plows, harrows, cultivators, or any oth er Implement, and mention any new one that has been introduced. YMi ' 21. State whether von have tried other fertilizers, such as guano, hone dust, phosphate, pondrette, and it so, with what sue ems, and under what circumstances it was applied. 23. What has been the permanent advance in the price of land In your section during the last ten years? 24. What wages are paid farm laborers by the day and month at the different seasons of the year ? State at what wages have ranged in former s. year 25. Is there any plan you can suggest that that 141 enable the employer to pay the laborer in proportion to the price of produce? 2fi - Have any experiments been made by subsoiling in your section? If so, with what success ? Also, state if under-draining has been tried, either with stone or tile. If so, state what kinds of soils, the manner in which the work was done, the cost per rod and the general re sults. 27. Can you give us any information as to the best manner of applying lime manure— whether it should be used as a top-dressing, or to what depth it should 'be covered up in the soil so as to receive the greatest benefit from Its use ? State also the time that your experience has proved to be the best for patting in the dif ferent kinds of crops, the method of preparing the land for each Wnd, and the best kind of im plements now in use for that purpose. 28. What agricultural improvements are the most needed in your section ? Make such sug gestions as to what am be done to advance the interests of the County. Cows Leaking Milk The family cow will not unfrequently come home at night from the rich pasture with milk strieuffing trom one or more teats. This hi par ticularly the case with easy milkers. Having such a cow, and not fancying the loss of a quart or two each day we applied collodion (liquid cuLicle, obtained at searuggist%) to the end of the teat, which effec perfect cure The pro tection retained the raflk,but gave way tri a firm pressure of the teat with the hand.
