It is needless to attempt to describe the joyous ex : eitement that made old and young, men, women, and children, go wild in the streets. Bells rung, d•nms rolled, cannon thundered, bands of mus played, horns sounded, men and buys hurrahed, were unfurled, processions marched through th streets, songs were sung, speeches were made, and in fact, almost every conceivable means was resorted to by our citizens to let off their irrepressible excite• mcnt. The speakers in the daytime from the ate of the Court House, were Elder Tilden and A. I. Warren, W. H. Jessup and J. B. McCollum, esqng. In the evening the fire Companies bad a torch-light procession and the town was beautifully illuminated. Speeches were made by Judge Streeter and others.
