A fatal railroad accident occurred ou the D. II. A IF. Railroad on Sunday after noon last. An eugine and lender ran off tho track as they were approaching the Danville station and rolled down an embankment of about thirty-five feet into the river, and reduced the engine to a complete wreck. The fireman, Mr. Oliver Bright, of this place, in at- ternptinglo jump off was thrown un der the wheels and his body cut in two and strewing the flesh along the track. Engineer, Milton Stahl, also of Sun bury was carried down with engine in to the river but tniraoulously escaped instant death, although badly injured. Superintendent Crawford on learning of the accident proceeded at once to the wreck with employees of tho road to render tuoh assistance as he could. An inquest was held over Bright' body and a verdict returned In accordance with the above fact. The body of Mr. Bright aud Mr. Stahl, arrived in a spe cial car at this place about 9 o'clock Some three hundred person! had gath ered at the depot, but were disappoint in seeing tnera, a the dead body was liven in charge of If.
