8 ljc Simco, New Blomnficfo, )a. Death from Excesslye Joy. A Milwaukee papor tolls the following sad story : About four years ago a young and stal wart Gornjan, named Fritz Schonman, loft his native laud to seek bis fortune in the new world. He delayed not upon reaching N. York, but went straightway to Milwau kee, b aving beard that it would prove, in many respects, a second fathorland to him. lie entered the employ of Best's Brewing Company, where he has steadily remained ever ince, constantly rising in the good wishes of his employers. Being of an industrious disposition and but little inclined to squander his earnings he soon put by a snug little sum, entirely Biifliciciit to warrant bim iu entering the matrimonial market, and accoidingly his friends advised him so to do, assuring him that his good looks, honest manner, and business capacity, would enable him to secure a f size from among the many red checked Teuton damsels who were wont to smile on him. But to nil suggestions Fritz gave an unheeding ear, until at length it was suggested that ho bad left some blooming damsel away across the water, into whoso watchful keeping ho had entrusted his heart. When Fritz was accused of such a deed he blusbingly acknowledged it, and stated that he was working and saving in order that be might bring Katrina here, marry her, purchase a house, and settle down to a happy life, and aspire to the position of Alderman cf the Tenth ward. When tho fact became known, Fritz's faithfulnoss was highly praised, and quite an interest was taken in the coming of the beloved Katrina. Thus matters went on until about one month ago, with a joyful hoart and a considerable amount of money, Fritz purchased a passage in a steamer from Germany to America and sent word to Katrina to come on immediately. The timv that intervened between that day and yesterday (when Katrina was ex pected to reach Milwaukee) was principally occupied by Fritz iu endoavoring to appear natural and easy, but with poor success. His anxious joy was plainly depicted in every lineament of bis good-natured face. Yesterday, iu company with a largo number of friends, he proceeded to the Union de pot, to meet his beloved, who was to arrive on the one o'clock train. Slowly the mo ments crept by uutil at length the train came around the corner, drew up at the station, and the passengors disembarked. The quick eye of love revealed tho yearn ing hearts to each other, and with the words "Fritz !" Katrina !" the long sepa rated lovers clasped each other in a close embrace. After the first joyous emotions were over, Fritz tried to disengage himself, to present bis future bride to many friends who had come around, but - the bands were firmly clasped about his neck, and would not separate. No words came from the ' lips which touched Lis cheek, end in a mo ment the dread intelligence flashed through the minds of .the beholders. The girl was dead, having literally broken her heart with excessive joy on being restored to bim she so fondly loved. No words can describo the grief of the roan wbo, but a moment before, had step ped as proudly as a king, conscious of hav ing the love of a true woman. His anguish overpowered and unmanned bim, and the few deep sobs, which convulsed his frame soon passed, leaving him gazing at the corpse of Katrina with a dull, agonizing wild stare. The passengers at the depot became aware of what bad bapdened, and when all bad been told not a dry eye was to be seen. Even men of the world, who wore accustomed to pitiful sights, could not witness the grief of poor Fritz un moved. t3FOue of the detectives in Bergen co., was looking about on Tuesday when sud denly it struck bim to explore the attic of an old school house by the roadside. He crept up tbe ladder and opening the trap door saw what at first he thought to be a lot of rubbish. But upon further Investi gation be discovered that the loft was used as tbe den and storchouss of a gang of burglars. A quantity of silverware was found, several overcoats, one worth $100, another $73, and a handsome pocket mi croscope worth $300. Tbe whole made a grand haul. The capture of the burglars is looked for. tW Luoy Josephs was arraigned In New Orleans last week for the ill-treatment of her stepson, a boy of eleven, very small for hiB age. She bad tortured bim with dev ilish ingenuity, among other experiments compelling bim to kneel upon hot bricks until bis knees became roasted. While amply feeding her own children, she gave her stepson nothing, and he bnd to beg. The boy was constantly asking for food when in court, and eagerly devoured a loaf of bread. tyTbo wind has gone into tbe crusa ding business at Brooklyn, Jackson county, Mich. Lately it took down an undertak er's sign from its fastenings, aud deposited it in front of a whisky shop, informing passers-by that " Caskets' and coffins were furnished at short notice." E3ST The Mississippi Legislature baa passed an act requiring liquor dealers to obtain tbe written conwnt of a majority of tbe men and women who are of age in tbe town where they pi oposo to sell before li cense can be granted. yew Advertisements. 3 SCHOOL TEACHEhS WANTED In each county for the Spring and Hummer. 8150.00 per month.
