Fall of a Bridge. The State Journal of the 81st ult., says: The iron bridge crossing the Conncdogulnnet creek about a mile north of West Fail-view, on the road lead ing from Oyster's point across the moun tain, fell some time during Monday after noon, whilo Mr. Jacob Eslingcr, a farmer, residing about a mile from the mill, was crossing it with a four horse-team and a load of wheat. The bridge was three or four spans iu length, was built of boiler Iron; and was considered a safe structure. The violent storm of the afternoon of the 4th of July, however, moved it out of place, and the Commissioners of Cumberland county were notified of the fact, but failed to place a caution notice on the bridge. Mr, Eslinger had reached the second simn, on the side nearest Heck's mill, when the bridge broke down, throwing horses and wagon Into the creek, crinulimr soma of tin. animals badly, one of which broke its leg ana uaa to be shoU Mr. E. was sitting on his saddle horse, and bis littlo boy upon the grain bags, on the wagon.' A couplo of the young gontle men were, howovor, equal to the emergen cy, and soon obtained a large wagori jand two horses from a kind farmer and took all home by dusk. A Collision occurred on the N. C. R. Road opposite this place, and it is said to be from carelessness of the ilngmnn of tho forward train, he having neglocted to give tho signal. It created quite an excitement here, and tho river was soon dotted with littlo boats whose occupanta wanted to see what damage was done. . About 25 or 30 cars Were wrecked, but no lives lost. A sad sight was presented in this neighbor hood one evening this week, viz. a delegate to the convention living near tho grist mill, beastly drunk aud repeating to passers-by that "there was a free bar up there, but it was tho devil's own $tvff. , Au appropri ate name. bCThcro has been a number of cases of cuoiera morous nore owing to tne cheap ness of cucumbers, green apples etc. Wo would advise some of the young ladies along back street to turn the light down or close the blind, as it would not bo policy to lot papa know, if the young man did steal a kiss occasionally.
