RIVER PntATB CAPTURED.—The Delaware Harbor Polite, last night, captured a noto rious river pirate. He was in a skiff and had vrithhim about 600 pounds of rope, which had evidently been just cut from vessels. There were eight different sized lines, comprising mining rigging, fasts, &c.. The rope is at the Delaware Harbor Station, Front • and Noble streets. The prisoner gave his name as James Thompson. 'He is also charged with having been concerned in the robbery of a German from Baltimore, at League Island, about the time of the recent parade of the Odd Fellows. He will have a hearing at the Ceitral Station this afternoon. CHESTNUT STREET FEMALE SEMINARY.- An interesting graduating class of fourteen young ladies, having completed their studies at the Chestnut Street Female Seminary, re, ceived their diplomas on. Wednesday. An address was delivered by the Rev. E. R. Beadle, D. D., and prayer was offered by Rev. Henry A. Boardman, D. D. This Seminary, opened in 1850, has ever maintained its high reputation under the _ eminent Principals, Mary - di. Bounev- and Harriette A. Dillaye: Among, the graduates were representatives of Pennsylvania, Maryland, Virginia and Ken tucky. JunirEn OVERBOARD.—A man named .Alonzo Gardner, carrying a sail, was over hauled by Policeman O'Neill, at.. Delaware avenue and. Chestnut streets, about half-past eleven,o'clock last night. He ,about that ho be longed to a certain boat, and the officer went with him, but found that the hands on the boat. 100,v nothing about him. Gardner, find ing tat he had been fairly caught, jumped into the river and swam out into the stream.. He then had a choice between death and a prison: He chose the prison; and • swam back again. He was then captured by O'Neill, who was pa tiently waiting on the wharf. Ald. (iodshall were arrested on .suspicion. of having committed the robbery. ,They were sent to prison by Alderman Titter mary. The Cincinnati Base Bal Club which has been victorious in all of the matches with the celebrated New York Clubs, arrived in the city last evening. The visitors were met bya delegation of the Athletic Club, and were escorted to the Washington House; whichwill be their headquarters while in thiS city. This afternoon the Cincinnatians will play a match with the Olympic Club, at Twen ty-fifth and Jefferson streets, and on Monday afternoon they will contend with the Athletic ARRESTEM—James Peoples has been ar rested by Deputy U.S. Marshals Murray and Baynes, upon the charge of having been con cerned in the assault upon John Rause, As sistant Assessor of Internal Revenue of the Fifth District, in Richmond, on Wednesday last. Peoples was taken before U. S. Com missioner Kibler, and was held in $2,600 bail, for a further hearing. STEALING DOOR K.Eys.--Joseph Adkins was arrested last night by Policeman McCormick while engaged in trying doors in the neigh- . borhood of Seventh and Bedford streets. He had in his possession a large bunch of keys. Some of the keys were identified by Dr. Rodgers as having been stolen from his house, No. 635 Pine street. Adkins was committted by Ald. Kerr.
