The Wealeyan Minister at :aches a testimonial, pronouncing her a very nice, amiable, kind and excellent young lady, who would make an excellent wife. —Sentence of death was once passed upon a notorious villain py a popular judge, who de sired to maintain and extend his_popnlarity. He said: "Mr. Green, you have just been found guilty. Will yon : have the kindness to stand up, Mr. Green? I ,Bally would not trottble you, Mr. Green, but such is the established custom of the Court. As I was saying, Mr. Green, you have justsbeen found guilty by the•jury, Mr. tareen, of „ =--of--I. believe you called it murder, Mr. Fore man of the jury; yes—murder. You will please take notice, Mr. Green, that it is the jury who find you guilty, not I, Mr. Green. I express no opinion on the subject, but I am compelled by the law- - zit is a mere formality, tsufar as I am concerned, Mr. Green—to sentence you to be hanged by the neck till you are dead—dead. At what time would it be agreeable to you to be " ' hanged; Mr. Green?" —George Francis Train writes as follows to Anson Burlingame: "Twenty years have passed —yes, almost a quarter of a century, since we wore boar:lora together—you a law student, 1 a grocer's boy. Ten years Infer. and again we met, I congratulating you with your pluck - with Pryor, who did not come to time at Niagara. Once more we met; you and General Banks called on me at the Parker House on your visit to Amer ica in 1865—the evening of my Father Matthewlecture at the Music Hall. Again, with your per misaion, we will shake hands. You free--I in prison. But though the body is habeased, the mind is at liberty. I have seen von represent a few thousand voters from the old Bay State. I have seen you represent thirty millions of Amer icans to Asia. I now see you representing four hundred millions of people to Europe and Amer lea .on the most extraordinary and most import ant embassy ever appointed by any nation in nay age." —The following Washington inklings are from the Boston Commercial Bulletin; "General Grant has managed to elude the office seekers. Terrible Accidental Wilmington, Del• Yesterday's ammercia/ contalns the following: . A shocking accident occurred' in the engine house. LL Warner's wharf, this afternoon, which resulted in the Instant death of a little girl about eleven years of age, named Annie Shay, a diugh ter of Lola Shay, residing at No.' 312 East Fifth street. The child had gone down to the wharf with her father's dinner, and after delivering it to him had remained down there awhile. Uhl supposed that seeing the engine house door open sae went In there to get warm or else out of curiosity. The engine is used to drive a coal-unloading apparatus on one side and a i;lsting machine on the other. The shaft connecting with the latter runs across the engine house about eighteen inches or two feet from the ground and revolves very rapidly. The child either attempted to step across this or went too near it. when her cloth ing was caught and she was rapidly whirled around. Her head strising on the brick floor beneath was crushed to a jelly, and her brains were dashed out, causing, of course instant death. The accident occurred at about twenty minutes past twelve o'cloeit. The girl's body was carried Immediately to her parents' residence, where an inquest was held upon It. OITY BULLETIN.
