Tun ELAOACITS: OF A DOG.—Yesterday afternoon a dog was observed mai: 1g towards a pond on Brown street,near Twenty-fifth. Upon reaching tlie bank the animal plunt , ,ed into the water, anti after trrinltaing about for some time suddenly disappeared. In a few seconds the dog came to the surface with an object which appeared to be a coat. Ills prize was too heavy for hint and he lost it. Three times he got it, but was obliged to give It up. Finally he secured a drab hat and got it safely to shore. his supposed that a per son has been drowned in the pond,which at some points is fifteen feet deep. To-day the police are engaged in dragging for the body. HIGHWAY ROBBEB.Y.-Mr. William Rickards, residing at 928 Market street, was passing Tenth and South streets, at an early•hour yesterday morning', when he was stopped by three men. One inquired the time, and as Mr. Rickards took out his watch it was snatched away from him by another of the men. Matthew Quigley was ar rested on the charge of, having been concerned in the robbery, and he was identified by fir. Rickards as the person who took his watch. Tee accused had a bearing before Alderman Bonsall, and was committed to answer. DEATH OF A Ruronnut.-'--Mr. Charles,H. Graf fen, of the Sunday Mereury,died at his residence, No. 537 Pine street, this morning, after a brief illness. Several years ago Mr. Gretna] had charge of the columns of the /Sunday Dispatch devoted to religions intelligence. During the war he was an army corrupondent for the New York Herald. Since the close of the war he has been the Phila delphia correspondent of that journal. He was also connected with the Sunday Mercury as base ball reporter and editor of the religious intelli gence. MAN STABBED.—This morning, between 12 and 1 o'clock, a fight occurred' at New Market and Willow 'streets. During the melee Samuel Mc.' Mackin was stabbed in the shoulder and was badly injured. He was taken to the Pennsylvania Hospital.
