The ImAum of Muscat.—a. rather amus ing affair took place shortly afcerthecom nieuoemeht ih toe summer of hostilities ne tween Syed> Selem, Imaum of Muscat, and Syed Toorkey, claimant of that dignity. Byed,Belem, to protect, himself against ms enemy, built a barricade of bags of rice and dates across the eastern part of the town. Syed Toorkey, being very short of provi sions, made a desperate sortie from Fort Jelalli, which he held, carried off the entire barricade, and lived for some time upon it. Syed Selem made another little mistake. He called upon some of the wild tribes of Arabs in the interior to come and aid him; but, upon second thoughts, he came to the conclusion that they might prove harder to get rid of than Syed Toorkey, so he reoalled his invitation, and placed guns in all the roads to keep baok his allies if they should nsist on coming.
