A despatch r from Salem, Oregon, states that in the House of Assembly, yesterday, Mr. Hermann offered a series or resolutions declaring that the action of the House in ra tifying the constitutional amendment before the admission of the members from Grant county to their seats; was fraudulent, and by the aid of one Union member were adopted by the foliowingwote--y eaa 24, nays 23. The Secretary of State was then requested to transmit a copy of the resolutions to Secre tary Seward; Further action will be had to-morrow. From Fortress Monroe. Shooting at Manayunk, —James John son bas been held in $l,OOO ball, by Aid, Ramsdell, on the charge of shooting John Detwller. Both parties are boatmen. Johnson was unloading bricks at Mana yunk. when Detwller's boat nearly ran into his. The men had some words, and Detwller got a revolver from his cabin. Johnson then seized a double-barreled gun and fired. The shot took effect in the groin of Detwller. He was taken to the hospUal and fourteen buckshot were extracted from his person. Detwller was also held to bail. Body Recovered.— The body of a man was found yesterday in tbe Delaware near League Island. There was a severe bruise on the side of the head and the jaw was broken. Tbe body is supposed to be that of John Williams who was thrown over* board from a boat off Dickerson street wbarf some time since. Williams resided on Pine street, near Sixth. - Coroner Taylor was notified to hold an inquest 1 lb the case. Again in Custody.— Harry Monaghan, a notorious Copperhead, was arrested last night on Wal nut Btreet, near Eighth, for assaulting a gentleman, a member ef the Fenian Brotherhood, whose only offence was a remark that he Intended to vote the Bejmbllcan ticket. Political Disturbances.— There waa a lively time along Chestnut street on Saturday evening. Threats had been made by ihe Democrats to tear oat the headquarters of the Bepoblican Invtnclbles in the Prns Baadlng, and a large crowd assembled in that vicinity. Chief Boggles had a large reserve force of policemen on duty to prevent any disturbance, and Mayor McMlchael was ia his office antii a late hoar to direct matters, During the evening there were vari ous small disturbances, hot the admirable police ar rangements prevented any serious outbreak. The Be § Chileans had a mass meeting in front ox In depan ?nce Hall, and the Keystone Club was marched through the crowd twice, evidently with the intention of Inviting an attack. The Republicans remained quiet, however As the different ward delegations passed the Press office, there was much booting and yelling, and considerable groaning. An attack might have beeamade, bat fhrthr presence of the police. All the eveningthe crowd remained at Beventh and Chestnut streets, and there were alternate cheers and groans for the candidates of the respective parties. Between eleven and twelve o’clock a row was kicked up, and several pistol shots were fired. As far as ascertained, nobody was hart. The police were then formed in doable rows from house to house, and backed the crowd out of Chestnut street. A young man named Joseph Bred, a Democrat, was shot in the shoulder daring this disturbance. At a later hoar, it was reported that) an attach on the htadquaxten of the “Both ln Blue" at Eighth and Wal oat streets was contemplated. andasqaaaofpollcemea was rent there. As the officers were passing: the Democratic headquarters, they were received with a volley of brides. The police returned the fire with their revolvers. This scattered the crowd and most of the men ran Into Duponceau street. Several arrests were made. One young; man was shot through the arm. There were no further disturbances m that locality. At Twelfth street and Girard avenue there was a sllgbtf disturbance while a Democratic procession was passing. Ayoung man named William Rookstool was wounded In the heod,by' t a pistol shot fired from the pro cession. Charles Fitlcs was stabbed in the leg. Neither were seriously injured. . V During the fighting on Walnut street on Sunday morning, a number of the policemen were struck with bucks. James Bussell and Thoor as Hassey, of ficers of rhe Eleventh District, were both so badly in jured that they are not able 10 be on duty. Russell had bisback hurt, and was taken home in a carriage. Officers Gibson and Walcott of the Park Police were amoDg those injured. Two loads hid been fired. Hatton was taken before Alderman Bf filer. and was committed la default of two thousand dollars bail. John Cronln v Jobn Jones,and John McDlakey were arrested by the Reserve Corps duriDg the rioting at Seventh and Chesttnt streets. They had a hearingoe fore Mayor McMcMicbael on Sunday morning and were committed in del&alt of two thousand dollars ball. On Saturday night a Republican meeting was held at Bridesburg, and as the procession waspasslng Lauben stein’s tavern, the Democratic headquarters, porter bottles were thrown at one of the devices carried in the line. This led to a slight disturbance. When the pro cession was returning several parties made an attack upon it, but were driven off. Wm. R. Curtin, who ap peared to be the leader of the assailants, was arrested. On the way to the station house he remarked to the officer that‘'Jeff. Davis is a better man than old Aoe Lincoln ever was.” As a soldier dressedln Zouave cos tume passed him he said, ‘There’s a man ru. shoot vet." Curtin was taken before aid. Holme and was held for a further hearing. Kiot in the Nineteenth Ward.—A free tight occurred at Richmond and William streets, yesterday afternoon,about four o’clock. It seems that about six months ago two fellows, named Burk and Gallagbermade up a prise fightforSlOO. The fight was stopped by the police. Since that time-there has oesn an animosity existing, and whenever the parties met they desired to fight it out. Yesterday Burk met Gal lagner and attacked him. The friends of each inter fered, and there was every prospect of a lively time, when tbepolice interfered. A young man named Wm. Uoyerwasstruckover the eye with astQne and was severely injured. Woodhouse was in a beer saloon at Bread street and Ridge avenue, and asked the pro prietor why he had not one of Judge Kelley's cards up. Shaffer, it is alleged, then attacked the old gen tleman, knocked him down and kicked him about the room. hlr. Woodhouse was so badly injured that he is confined to the house. Shaffer was committed to answer. Prompt Action !— The Board of Health held a meeting this afternoon. Will Mr. H. please answer if this is true? Fire in Venango County, Pa.—.On Wednesday morning ait one o’clock, a fire was discovered in the kitchen wall of the National Hotel, at Plumer. The boardefis were immediately aroused and efforts were made to snbdne the fire, all of which proved unavailing,and in a short time the building was in a sheet of flame.. The McCalmot House, which is_but a few yards from the burned building; was saved bv the most strenons exertions. The National was owned by J. 8. McCray, of Petroleum Centre, mid Was not insured. The loss on the building and furniture is estimated at ?5,000. The fire was the work of an incendiary. Episcopal.— The House of Bishops have unanimously appointed the Rev.
