Indian Superintendency was submitted to the
(comtuissioner of the Indian 13u:oven of the. Inte
rior Department. It says that the bitterness of
feeling caused by the force of white bushwhack
era in the territory of the Indians, forms a great
obstacle to the negotiation of favdi - able treaties
with them. The , e bushwhackers carry on a
regularly organized system of wholesale cattle
stealing, by which it is estimated that the tribes
have lost over 200,000 head of rattle, valued at
between $4,000,000 and $5,000,000. Nineteen
thonsand Indians arc now being subsisted by the
Government en this Superintendency.
