CITY AND SUBURBAN. !MOW TESTYIDAT.B Adjourned Meeting of the Bar. per adJonrmatmt the members of the Pitts b Bar assembled this morning at half•past el o'clock to hear the report of the Commit tee Resolutions relative to the death of Hon. Judge Una. The Committee reported as Col love: The members of the Bench and Bar of Ale gheny county, convened on the annunciation of the death of the ilonerable William Wilkins, who for more than sixty years has been the pillar and ornament of the legal profession among ns, and upon whom the honors within the gift of a free people have been profusely showered, and whose fame was fully and widely spread by the events of his long and valuable life, adopt the follow ing resolution!: Resolved, That as members of the Pittsburgh Bar which has been elevated by the bland and courteous manner, the polished advocacy, and profound and varied erudition of our lamented friend and brother, we.deplore the lass which has befallen our country, our commonwealth and the eatlon. - .Resolved, That whether the eminent deceased be regarded as a-lawyer, the pleader of the cause of the wronged, and defender of the Innocent, or as a citizen of public spirit, keenly anxious for the interests of the community, or as a devoted teprosent live of the people in their State and Federative relations, or as a Judge in the Courts ofthis Commonwealth, and of the United States, or as a Minister Pleelpotentiloyor the Nation In Europe, where his suavity and amenity of ad dress won for him the title of the American Chesterfield, he was alike equal to the Mike and I the occasion. Raohrd, That in his social and domestic life, be was distinguished for his generous hospitali ty, urbane dignity,. genial kindness, and fond affection as a husband and father. Respired, That the deceased has been spared to the word berondthe ordinary limit of human life and has only been called from us when fail of - years as of honor, we cannot well mourn the removal of this beacon light in our professional course as untimely extinguished, but bowing to the Inevitable stroke of death, unite with his friends and fellow citizens who honored him while living, in venerating his mammy in all future recollection. Rewired, That this meeting of his professions I brethren respectfully tender to his widow and family our heartfelt sympathy under their greet bereavement. Reached, That wearing the appropriate badges of mourning. we will attend. his funeral in a body, and that the several Courts of this County and District be requested to order these resolu tions to be entered on record. After the pa.sage of the resolutions, the mem bers of the Bar. In a body, proceeded to the resi dence of the Sage of Homewood, for the per se of following his remains to their last rest ing place. The, Fourth—Shall We Celebrate It t There are great and =usual preparations be. Inguiade in all parts of the country for celebra ting the coming anniversary of our indepen dence, and we had hoped that our citizens (through the Committee appointed for that pun. pore) would have made imitable arrangements for celebrating the day. In nearly every other city of the north, and In most of the towns and villages, the day will be celebrated by getting up suitable demonstrations in honor of one re turned soldiers. Certainly the day could not be observed In a more becoming manner. The blessings of peace have been once more vouch safed to 111, and it is most Cuing that the people should honor the brave men who Budd up so nobly In defence of the nation. This sugges tion was fully discussed by the Committee, we uadcratand, and abandoned on account of thetr inability tope:cure a suitable Kroft. Other methods of celebrating the day have been suggested, but all have been abandoned! The announcement that the Committee had con eluded, for the reasons dated by them, to dia. pease with any attempt to get up a Jabliee • dern. onstration, has caused considernale regret, and not a little fault-finding. The action of the Committee, however, will not Interfere with any, other arrangements which may be made. Those who desire to get up a demonstration can do so, as there Is ample time yet. A correspondent sends us the following, which suggests torkfe enough at least Entrees Gazer*: Is it possible that we are to have no celebration, as a city, of the coming Fourth of July—a day of each Joy and gratitude as it should be—aFF o rth Of July above all VOW the of July over -observed since 1778 Loyal, patriotic citizens of Pittsburgh, too lazy, ton OrePf, to celebrate the day at all ! Well, If nothing better can be done, why not have a grand national salute fired at sunrise— then let all the bells of the city be rung—say at six o'clock In the morning; than let us have a grand concert atelght or aloe in the Morning on the Allegheny commons, by such of the brans bands of the two cities as would be willing to do so. Why not have a regatta to take place at ten o'clock In the morning, or In the afternoon 'I Why not have an oration from the Post Office steps, or from the Monongahela liouse—say two or three orations at different °oleo of the city, either in the afternoon or evening; then close with an exhibition of fire works I Let us go to work, there Is time enough yet' I.et Allegheny city arouse. They supplied no with a hearty meal; we gave them three cheers none the rtes hearty, and like John Brown went marching on. As the train moved slowly out of town thousands of ladles came out to welcome us and bid no God speed, and as we passedby those beautiful suburban residences which Skirt the banks of the river, we are greet ed with magnificent boquets, apples, oranges, little notes written by fair hands expressing thanks for oar services in the field, and by the eight of ladles robed In the "old flag" to repre sent the Goddess of Liberty; in fact everything that a generous and patriotic people could de vise was done to gladden our hearts." An Accident by Playing with Pewaer. About noon today, an accident happened to a number of children by playing with powder, by which four boys and two young girls were in jured. A party of lads had Procured ,a pop bot ti,, which they partially filled with powder, and congregating on Third street, between Market and Ferry, a lad of about fourteen years of age named Herman Fickelson, commenced pouring out the contents of the bottle, and forming a train, et the same time lighting a match. While leaning over the bottle, the powder on the ground became ignited, communicating with that which was in the bottle, and causing an explosion as though a musket had been discharged. Young Fickerion was cut by a piece of glass across the %reties& and also in the fleshy part of the left hand between the thumb and • fore finger: •Dr. Scully attended to his injuries, which have since proved to be not very serious. A son of Col. Fricker, named John, was also cut in the leg and arm; and a young led named Charles Gardner, In the neck. A daughter of Mrs. Seifert's had her doses cut' completely across the breast with apiece of glass, indicting a slight abrasion of the Akin. Another young girl was also slightly injured. This accident, I which might' have proved mere disastrous to some of the party, should be a warning to all boys not to play with powder, as it is always dangerous. The Case of Mrs. Bouden.—ln the case of Mrs. Mina Bolden. charged with the larceny of a shawl, we stated that the Jury found a 'verdict of " not guilty." This is correct as far as It goes, but Mrs. B. wishes us to state the addition al fact that she prosedrby a number of reliable witnesses, that the shawl wait ber own property, and had titien In her possession for many months before the alleged larceny. She asserts that the prosecution wu Instigated by malice, and that Watt oot a shadow of foundation for It. Reckless Shooting.--Battirday a boy named Ambersen, while firing with a pistol at a mark, on Avery street, Allegheny. sent a ball whizzing through a window to the residence of Mr. John Bernhard. The ball grazed thehead of Mr. B. and lodged In the wall. The boy was arrested by Mayor Morrison, and held for a hearing to day.
