The CountT Prison.
Tba"Act. for the better:management of the Al,
legheny County Prison," read in the Senate a day
or two since;provides that a Board of Inspectors
_shall be, appointed, consisting of tbo B udges of
the Common Pleas and District Courts. The
Sheriff, Controller and Comaty Commissioners,
and the Mayors of Pittsburgh and Allimbeny, in
Which Board, and the officers appointed by it, the
safe keeping of prisoners, the dlscipliai, gov,irn
ment mad management of Laid Institution shall
bo exclusluely vested, and that the present re
. sponsibility of the Sheriffs in regard to the safe
keeping of prisoners, shall cease and determine
on their committal to prison, and the salary al
owed him for Jailor and assistant Jailor shall also
cease
• The Board shall meet within thirty days alter
the passage of the act, and make each rules and
regulations for the government of the prison as
may be deemed necessary; appoint a Warden at
an annual salary of sl,too, who shall reside - in
the balldiog, and not absent hiandelf at night
without the consent of the board—the Warden
to appoint an assistant at a salary not exceeding

A Sleigh Ride Interrupted.
The Night Pollee In Allegheny, at h late hour
on Friday night, arrested a party of three gay
young men, at Cowling's saloon, on Federal
street, on a charge of having.taken a horse and
sleigh belotteng to other minim- .It appears
that a horse belonging to a man named Evans,
residing In the Fecond Ward, Allegheny, had
been put up at a raffle, and won by ono of the
ticket holders ; but before the winner got nimd
to the stallle to claim his property, throe
sties called on Dirs. Evans and told her
that one of them had won the animal. 'They
accordingly rook , possession of the aaz, and get
ting hold of au old sleigh belonging to Billy Ma
gee, they hitched up and started - olf on a Jolly
Field' ride. The Joke was soon discovered, and
tie pollee put on the alert. When the parties
were arrested it was discdvcred that a portion
of the harness bad given way, and they we r e
91 , 0. 1 4, to drive the sleigh borne. The horse was
unhitched, and the lads subjected to the Indi

but discharged on leaving "the needful". as an.

District Court
In the ease of John F. Duos t CO. w. J. F.
'luta et al., Judge McCandless on Saturday morn
ing, granted a preliminary injunction against
the defendants. The defendants were charged
with infringing upon a copy-right Issued by the
plaintiffs in causing to be published without their
authority a certain map. In 1&;7, Messrs. Buss &
en.,lnitAixlied a" Mapof Vensugu County," and
in InG4, Mr. Hunt published a "blap of the
Venatigo 0111liglons. This Map, the plaintiffs
charge, was copied from that .issued by them
selves. with the exception of a few slight im
material changes. The case was ably argiled,
and many points, that seemed altuort overwhelm
ing:a ere cited on either elle. The court de
cided the case for the plaintiff.'
Ptuttrcttatw ATMESTED —Two pickpockets,
utmcg William Taylor and Thomas Jackson,
were arrested by the police on Friday night, for
Olive' the pockets of two men at' the theatre,
during the mei to get in at the door. They
took sliscr watch from the pocket of
each of the men, but neither of the watches
were found upon the parties arrested. They
were committed, and will hare a hearing . before
the - Mayo: next 3londay.
