The Fifth corps moved to the left on There
day, morning for the purpose of cutting the
Walden railroad. They reached the railroad at
a Point * about six miles from Petersburg, about
noon, and the first division immediately nom
meheed destroying the track, and the rest of the

road to their line, penetrating the country for
some three or four miles beyond. They were at
