TROPAT.PI=ISIO:::=-. 23,1864. CITY 41217) SUBOBBAN. rrgmYeateraoE, ' Sittlitutactuni going South. Wasso it stated that a firm Cincinnati has received en order-from a large plantation in Lanham& far seven hundred ploughs, for ty ,a_ lot of baimess, thirty carte, one thousand bar Alls of pork, three hundred tons of Bay, beildea a quantity of blacksmith's and carpenter tool', sta. That looks like business. It is turningthe sword Into ploughshares and bayonets into reaping hooks. It foreshadow, the return of peace and prosperity under the new regime of freedom in the "Sunny South." When the wet 6 erer and the south delivered from the accursed system of slavery, then there will he en unprecedented demand for goods and warts in the South, such aa has never been known anywhere. Instead of th e rude bats of the 'lava laborer, which have coarsely any furniture, the net cott age of the white farmer Geisha:ter will arise and there will be a demend for furniture and chain, household implements and warei, such u has never been known before, in the imuntry. The South will want more wagon", ploughs, house hold furniture, and geode of all kinds, than ever was wanted before. To this end, to meet this certain demand, let the manufao- P:Mail Cfl'Llishetrgh be preparing.. Their Steam engines will be wanted, threshing ma chines, negons, ploughs, cooking stoves, tin ware, glassware, harness, furniture, and-all things that are neoessary to a farming pop tdation. Penneylnutile, ..Favorlte Son:, There must have been a remarkable change of opinion In Bradford county, pennsylvania, within a few years. Not long ego, when the Bank of Pottstown Mined its nee dollar notes, James Bnoluinan was eo popular there that itie portrait was engraved on one corner of the bill, and nobody thought of defacing it in the remarkable style that has prevailed since the beginning of the with. A banker, who is a cariosity bunter, has ihown as a bundle of thirty eight of these live dollar notes, in twenty of which the word "Traitor" la written across Boahannt's forehead; in others the letter "T" L branded; on one the following words appear: "Give him his des eats" t on another is written," To ould divil," and atilt another bears this inamiption:— "False to Ith country and his GA, but true to the democratic party." Some ingenious individeals, at a lose to express their con tempt in words, resort to symbols; one has drawn a copperhead snake; wriggling in the mouth of Buchanan, another decorates the bead with a cap and bells, and a third en closes the nook within a noose which is attached to a gibbet. These cations meth ods of Indicating contempt are not of a _thry high order, but they show how Mr. Buchanan is now regarded in that part of Pennsylvania in which ho was once so• great a favorite. Two Informations were made recently, at the instance of District Attorney Kirkpatrick, against a notorious lawbreaker named Mary Smith, who keeps an infamous den on Church alley. She bad managed thus far, by sovie 'arrow, to escape molesta tion, although her house has long been known to the police as ono of the very worst character. The District Attorney had bean after her for a week, bat by nailing up her front windows and locking her doors oho created the impression that sho had left the city. It was discovered, however, that she was still in the house, and this morning a "flank movement" was ordered thraughsin alley, and the "enemy" was surprised and raptured before she was cleverly out of bed. She was taken before Alderman Nicholson, charged on oath of A. B. Atkinson and Chris tian Sharp with keeping a disorderly house, and also a bawdy house. She was committed to answer in default of ball. Her conviction is a foregone conclusion. Harm Burned by an Incendiary. On the night of tho 11th Mat., the barn of Capt.
