Trees are not required to he cot down. stumps grubbed, or stone picked (4f, as is generally the case in cultivating new land in the older States. The first crop of I n d ian , corn, planted on the newly broken-sod, usually repays the cost of plowing and fencing. Wheat sown on the newly-turned sod is sure to yield very LARGE rnoms. A man with a plow and two -yoke of oxen will break one and a half to two acres per day. Contracts can be made for breaking, ready fur corn or wheat, at from ,52 to 2,50 per :me.
