R. FUTURE OF MINNEQUA—NOT TO REBUILT FOR SOME TIME—A SUGGESTION IN FAVOR OF CANTON: The following appeared in the Canton Sentinel' of last week :. Minnequa is in ruins. Iler walls, that '3;3 recently re-echoed the merry voice and happy song, or" vibrated in unison with the gay waltzer whose light, and hap_ py heart pulsated in harmony 'with the. sweetest music, have all vanisled in smoke. Sho was the pride of the coun try; the glory of the farmer, the profit of the mechanic and day laborer. Even the honest old hen in the barnyard was in spired with new zeal, and laid larger and fresher eggs than in days of yore. The brindle Cow gave sweeter-milk and richer cream. The dairy woman made filer but ter. The - merchants bought better goods, and the berg pickers tiluCked the choi cest fruit to tickle the palate of the guests. The peasant in boiled shirt and black broadcloth, each Sunday, made , a pilgrimage to her shrine with as much so lemnity as an Israelite visits the ,-sePul dire of ,his father's. Noiv she , lies'so low that zone would stoop to do her rever ence. The black cloud of smoke that as cended from her burning timbers, bas .fallen like a shroud upon the surrounding country. The farmers look .grave and doubtful, and business men 'ackri - owledge the loss of their best friend. 3finnequa will not be- rebuilt probably, in five or six years, if ever. Her beauti ful walks will soon go to decay,_ and her groves and shady nooks hecome the haunt of the owl andbat, unless the clti dens' of Canton step to the front and fill up the breach, by either building a fine hotel, and placing it in 'charge of the old superintendent of Minnequa, Mr. W. D. TYLER, or by opening_ their houses for boarders, and by concert of action, as did the' people of Philadelphia Centennial yeir, place them all under his •control. fie Could fill them all with boarders. Keep the cycs of the American people up on the famous springs of Bliunequa, until such time as it could be rebuilt, and con tinually add tollio prosperity of our beau. 'j,iful little village. And now we would suggest, that all interested in the com mon welfare of Canton, make s a point to tet together at; n n early day and talk Oda' matter - over. - • _ ME iiitioofttußiaifferAoo9atogoadtFp..r. fkiefity took plamikii*esdi4, 1870, at the good y ,T6see was a:; tiniiinait: 4 4:o o- eittlre count i,' aid' -*oh — interest Madifideof in ilia 'di** /km of tb,-8604.04.: The roods not t e Seandary and Tram: urer were - *alibied; an& 'referred to A* Auditors,- - who will report id the next meeting. 1111360 show that tho.
