Shesheqoin, his horses became suddenly fright
ened and sprang jfrom the road at a very high
point, precipitating themselves and wagon down a
steep precipice some 25 or 30 feet, lodgiud against
a clump of trees, which alone saved them from
being dashed to pieces several hundred feet below.
One horse was instantly killed and the other badly
injured. Two of his boys, CHARLIE and EDDIE,

BSE. We are pleased to learn that the
Young Men's Christian Association of this place
has fitted up the rooms over EDDY'S Clothing store
for a Public Reading Room. This will be a'much
better place for young men to spend their leisure
than in drinking saloons and gambling holes.
We also learn that it is the intention of the As
sociation to erect a building of their own soon—a
gentleman of this village having generously pre
sented a building lot for their nse. Fifteen hun
dred dollars have already been subscribed toward
the building fund, and the work will be commenced
as soon as three thousand dollars can be raised.

partnership with Dr. JJABSTOW, in the Drug busi
ness, as will be seen by a reference to their adver
tisement. The Major had a thorough education in
the business before he entered the service of the
country. He will undoubtedly prove a valuable
addition to the firm, as he understands the wants
of the public, and knows how to skillfully and
carefully prepare the various remedies necessary
to cure the ills that "flesh is heir to." A full as
sortment of Drugs, Chemicals, Fancy Goods, <fcc.,

JTEIY Our old friend R. BROWER, formerly
of the Ward House, is now occupying the depot
eating saloon of the Erie Railway, at Hornellsville,
N. Y*. The Company has fitted up the dining room
iu splendid style, and the manner in which BROWER
supplies the cravings of some hundreds of hungry
travelers daily, elicits universal praise. No one
knows how to keep a hotel better than BROWER, and
his eating saloons at Hornellsville and Avon have
become celebrated all over the country.
We have had an opportunity to make
a hasty examination of RAYMOND'S Life and Times
of President LINCOLN the agent of which is D. W.

alizes all the promises made in regard to its value,
as an interesting book. We understand that it
will soon be ready for delivery to subscribers.
