Peculiar Charge Made Against Foot Tonne
Fellow.
Frank Steel, Joseph Haney, Michael
Flaherty and Edward Welsh were arrested
yesterday and placed in jail to await a
hearing Saturday before Alderman Mc
Kenna on a charge of larceny preferred by
Inspector "William McKelvey.
It is alleged that the defendants have ob
tained duplicate keys to the padlocks on
the back gates of several downtown houses,
and that at night they would open the gates,
slip into the yard, where the beer was kept,
and mate off with as much as they could
carry. The defendants are all boys, well
known about town.
Saved a Woxnan'a Lite.
Mr. J. E. Thoroughgood, writing from
Georgetown, DeL, says: "Two teaspoonsfnl
of Chamberlain's Colic, Cholera and Di
arrhoea Bemedy saved the life of Mrs. Jane
Thomas, of this place." He also states that
several other very bad cases of bowel com
plaint there havebeen cured by this remedy.
