Trustees of the Church fay It's a Case of Incompetency Only. KCTCS7 M-TiS riWJI "EARBT TOWXS crrriAt. TFt.rur.AM to the oisrATCtM Oil Citt, Feb. '12. An interesting meet in; is in ;irojjrs at the Baptist Chnrch here thU afternoon, which continues at a late hour to-night. The session 5s made up of ministers ami lav delegates of the Oil Creek Baptist Association, together with ilie pastors of some churches of the French Creek Association. The object of the meet ing is to adjust certain differences between the pastor and the local congregation. Eev. E. I. JIcKeever, the pastor in ques tion, was called upon to-day and asked for an explanation of the secret meeting of the association. "There are no charges what ever against me," he said, "and the meet ing was called to consider the attitude of certain members of my congregation toward the chnrch. Frequent apologies have been made by these vcrv members for their acts against me, but their words had hardly died awav when thev renewed their reproaches. The names of some of these dissensiomsts arc now up for discipline. Yes, it is true that these members had tried to get me to withdraw from the pastorate." Two ot the taustees of the church, "W. P. Fornof and Levi Vredenburg, were seen, and stated without hesitcucy that the cause ot the dissatisfaction, in their minds, was the general incompetency of their pas tor. They said the condition of the church was proof of this, as thev had been obliged to notify Itcv. Mr. JIcKeever that the trustees of the cunrcli would not be responsible for his salary alter the middle of nest month, when the time of liU salary for the year ex pires. Mx of the trustees were pie-ent when it was decided to take this action, antl the seventh approved of it when the minutes were lead at the nest meeting. It is likely that cither the pastor or some of the prominent members of the chuich Kill beohliced to leave the congregation. -t the meeting, which is still in session, min lstei inland lay delegates had been called in for consultation Irom the cliurelips of JJrad jord, Centerrille, 'Corry, Dempsevtown, Kane, Kinzun, Titnsville, Union, Warren.
