Late yesterday afternoon the Kanawha Oil Company's No. 4 on the Sleeks larm was six feet in the sand, and innocent of oil. It is doubtful whether It will prove a producer of even a light capacity. It is located about 830 reet west of the same companj q Ho. 3, on tho Sleeks, which is a small well. The Kana- ha's Hood No. 2 and Onstott No. 2 are both due to get the sand this week. W. L. Jlel lon's Xo. 2, on the Meeks, in the same field, should tap the sand this morning, and his Xos. 1 and 4, ou the same farm, ill be due Thursday. Gas and Salt Water. McDoxai-d Pew & Emerson struck a heavy pressure of gas in tho salt sand in their well on the Stoinheiser lot at Prim rose, and at last accounts it was tosing the salt water over the crown pulley. The ISoyal Gas Company's Xo. 2, Ed McDonald and Mosier Co.'s well, on the Valantour lot, will be shot to-day. The latter is mak ing over ICO barrels a dav at pres ent. SriUKG Gaudex The test well which J. C. Gonnley has been drilling for tho new Ful ton Oil and Gas Company on the Fulton farm, in Keserve tovenship, a mile up Spring Garden run from the borough line, was abandoned last night. It is 2,339 feet deep. Jutt a showing of oil was lound at about l.fiCO feet in what was believed to be the 30-foot sand. Forty feet of flinty sand was Ftruck at 2.000 feet, and about ten feet of s-ind at 2,065 leet. There was nothing below, that to indicate oil. The Cherry Pickers' Work. BniDGEViLLE Graham A Co., who have been fishing for S3 da-s in their Fryer farm well, now have the tools out. They were taken out in two hours by A. Wolfe, of Washington, Pa., with a tool which he has dubbed the "cherry picker." Mellon & Wil son are drilling their Hopper farm "well to the third sand. It is a 30 barrel well in the M foot. Yesterday's Local Features. But little attention was paid to the oil market yesterday. Practically nothing was done at any of the Excnanges. Here thero wore no sales, and the only bid was 65JJ. ANY SUIT $151 Is the battle cry this week; and Any Suit $15! is the responsive echo from hundreds of hearts and pocket books. Hardly had the store been opened for business yesterday whea two score or more of gentlemen were "on deck" to avail themselves of the rare opportunity presented by Kaufmanns' offer of Any Suit in the Store for $15- They came amid doubts and cariosity they returned amid admiration and enthusiasm. What they saw" and what they heard was sufficient to convince them of the plain and un varnished truth of every statement made in connection with this sale by Kaufmanns. Every claim made in the newspapers was substantiated to the letter. And the same experience fell to the lot of the crowds upon crowds that followed each other all day long. Everybody was pleased and satisfied. ?i The scenes and sights described above will be resumed this morning, and continued until next Saturday night. Come whenever you will and you are welcome to choose any man's suit in our stock for $15 a stock that literally abounds in fine imported Dress Suits that but last Saturday were sold for $18, 20, $22, 25, 27 and $30. Right in among the many piles of these high-priced suits we invite you to step, and thus, then and there, take any suit you please at 15. It makes no difference whether it's a Sack, Cutaway Frock or Prince Albert Suit, whether the price is S20, 25 or 30, it shall be Yours at $15 Come in and try it. It's just as we describe it. Many of yesterday's patrons got 20 suits for S15, many got 25 ones for $15, manygot S30 ones for 15. Why not you? Again we ask: Why not you? We have stated our reasons for this anomaly of commerce resulting in the loss of many thousands of dollars to us. There was no escape from this sacrifice. The strikes and lock-outs of the past two months knocked the sales of expensive suits into a "cocked hat." Retrench ment became the order of the day; 8, $10, $12 and $14 suits had the call, while the fine ones (many of them made right here in our own merchant tailoring department), ranging from J5r8 to S30, stuck to our counters like leeches. But the loosening process has begun. Our offer of Any Suit for $15 is having the desired effect. After this week we expect to have our stock of fine suits reduced to a level low enough to justify us in again naming the former prices. This, then, is the week to buy. Now or never; $15 remember, buys the Finest Man's Suit in our stock this week. Next week you will probably have to pay 30 for the same suit. Come at once. KAUFMANNS' FIFTH AVE. AND SMITHFIELD ST.
