Uo was said to have been the best posted man in this cectlon on banking and commercial law. Mr. Williams was born n Portsmouth, O., tn 1942. In 1S17 his parents moved from that place to Canunsburg. Hia father was the Eev. Aaron Williams, a Presbyterian minis ter, and one of the professors in JeiTerson College. He was educated at this college, but never graduated, as he left school to join the army when war broke out. He served with distinction in Knapp's Batterv. After the war Mr. Williams settled in Pittsburg, and mda a reputation for himself as the as signee Tor the bankrupt firm of Ira B. McVey &Co. He succeeded James Kennedy as finan cial editor of the Commercial,, and held the position for several years, whenboorgantzed the fit. Clair BanklngOompany, which formed the Firth National Bank. Hebecomo cash ier of this bank when it was organized, and remained such until about four years ago. He then bocanie general manager of the Brldgewater Gas Company. His health, how ever, compelled him to quit business, and he took a trip to the Bahamas and Europe Af ter his return he did not become an employe of any company, hut retained his connection tritli various business enterprises. At the tlmo of his death he was a director In ttc Bndgewatcr Gas Company, treasurer of the Pittsburg Company, secretary and treasurer of tho New Ca6tle Water Company, a director in the Central District Printing and Telegraph Company, treasurer of the Mercantile Librarv Hall Company, a director In the Fort Pitt Incllno Plane Company, a director of tho Metric Metal Company of Beaver Falls, and a director of the Fifth No tional Bank.
