EHiH m" -s T -? , THE ' ITTBIIRG. DISPATCH. . PRIDAY;: ..HAf CffiftC --J J8 WOEK OF THE-MONTH. A Bullish Tabular Statement, Show " in? Smaller Production. M'CDEDT GAINING ON WILDWOOD. Butler County Also Exbibits a Harked De crease of Business. ITS DAT OP GEEAT GDSHEES GONE BY The monthly report for the entire Penn sylvania field for April presents an interest ing story for the producer and the trado in genera). On the whole the field situation, as indicated by the fieures, assumes a favor able and rather bullish aspect There were completed in the month just closed 287 wells, cctrregatins a new production of 7,710 bar rels, against 275 completed wells and a pro duction of 7,751 barrels in March." This is an Increase of 12 completed wells and a de crease of 41 barrels of new production. There is also an increase of 18 dry boles, but the most bullish feature of the report Is shown in the new work. Oa tbe 1st of April the work In hand was represented by 401 drilling wells and 218 run. maUns a total of U9. With the bifcinnins of Slav there are 3S8 wells being drilled and IS rijre. or a total of 574. This Is a decrease of IS drilling wells, 32 rlss and a total decrease of 4a The most noticeable decline in the southwest field is at Wildwood. The Decline at Vlldwood. In March 2S wells were finished, giving a pro duction of S.S91 barrels, while in April only IB veils were completed, with a production of 2,505 barrels a decrease ot 12 wells and 9S6 bar rels production. A comparison of the new wore with March shows an increass of 10 rigs and drilling wells, there being a total up to date of 5S0. Tbe decrease in Dew production at Wildwood is more than made good in the McCnrdy pool, tbe only member ot tbe pouthwest segregation that shows any material increase In production. In March thib district had a credit of 620 bar rein, and in April tbe new production foots up 1,913 barrels, an increase of 1.2C5. During tbe niontn one lair producer ms oeen developed in tbe fifth sand at McDonald, but tbe embryonic state of atfairs in this quarter precludes any predictions of material worth as to its future. But little definite knowledge has been gained regarding tbe Koblestowu well, and tbe importance of this venture will be de teimined in the future. West Virginia has brought forth nothing out of the ordinary, although several important experimental van. turcs are nearing the sand in different loca tions. The Situation In Butler County. Butler county again shows a decided decline in operations, compared with the report on the 1st of April. The figures then showed: Wells drilling, 80. rigs. 52, completed, 52; dry.7:uew production, 1,614 barrels. Tbe present figures are: Drilling, 69, rigs, S4; completed, 7; dry, 14; new prodnction, P94 barrels. To more fully appreciate the latter figures and their signlfi. cancc, they must be compared with those of ono year ago, when there were 140 drilling wells. 115 rigs an over 100 wells completed. Tbe principal work then was in tbe then lamous 100-foot district on Ijitile Creek, which now, however, plays no important part in tbe Znnnthl) report. One-thlnl of the new prodnction fer last month comes from Jefferson Center, which is of a verj flashy future. Cillery, Harmony and Zellenoplo have 22 drilling wells and 16 rigs divided between them. While tbe most active there is nothing in these fields to encourage tbe producer and no money is being made. Muddy creek has been endeavoring to get up a boom by newspaper advertising. Tbe Cold figures, howeer, stand ont boldly and cannot be altered They show that Muddy creek is not in tbe oil report sufiicientlv to cause any unuuc excitement. Five completed walls, 3 drj and 15 barrels prodnction tell its own story for the month. There are 4 drilling wells and 4 rip Tho total production of the field is less than 100 barrels per day For tbe first time in a number of years Butler county is without a developed pool of gushing tendencies, and it remains to be seen bow long this condition of affairs will last.
