This will probably mean a night session of the court, as there arc yet 6! applicants to be heard, and 50 per day is the record of the court. Among other things, the name of the Pittsburg Brewing Company was left off. Bergman, 422 Market street, was the first McKeecport applicant. Ho has a license and took in 4.000. Samuel Firestone, 2JI Jerome street, is in the grocery business. William F. Hunter, 406 Walnut street, is a new applicant. The next applicants were Pier Dannals, but Judge White would not hear them, claim ing that two licenses could not be granted. The Judge thought, however, they had a per iod right to deliver beer from their ice house without an extra license. The question will be settled by an argument. A hearing was commenced yesterday before Register Conner in the contest of the bond of friendship alleged to hare been given by the late T. J. Owens. The will of Mr. Owens was filed ana probated in Fcbruarv. Homo time later J. Evens presented an instrument alleged to have been made by Owens in 1890. The couple were married in 1863. Fresh was sent one year to the workhouse last fall for his connection with the case of Martha Gil christ, the 15-year-old girl whose adventures got a number of men Into trouble. Tbe County Commissioners and Controller yesterday let the contracts for tbe work on a number of new county bridges to be erected this year. The contra cts for the superstructure of seren bridges were let to tbe Massilon Bridge Company on the following bids: Bridge over Little Deer creek, 890; Lowrie run, 780; Abers Creek, Jt.250; Poketos creek. 1,300; Lit tle Bull creek, 890; Deer creek. 7v0; Streets run, $780: William Dickson received the con tracts for the masonry for tbe Little Deer creek bridges at 8 35 per cubic yard: Lowrie's run, 7 65; Poketos creek, 59 35; Little Bull creek, 8 85, and Big Scwickley creek, 8 65. The masonry for Abers creek bridge was awarded to 11 Crimm at 7 50 per cubic yard; tbe masonry of the Deer creek bridge to M. Sweeney, 10 SO, and of tbe Streets run bridge to William Lardner. $8. Frank Bryan received the contract for filling the approach to the bridge over BigSewickley creek at Duffs mill for 3.120. The contract for furnishing 2.000 barrels of cement was let to L. S. An Astonishing Number of Burial Permits Issned In the ast Two Months Points on Mortality Gleaned From the Bureau of Health Records. During the months of March and April just ended tbe Bureau of Health granted 1,521 burial permits, including the shipping certificates. Of these abont 150 were still births, which are not included in the city's mortality. This will make the total num ber of deaths in the city during tbe two months 1,371, Grip alone caused 102 deaths, pneumonia over 800, bronchitis about 160 and cerebro spinal meningitis 76. Tbe decrease In the death rate is slow. Bo far this week 82 deaths have been reported. For tbe week ending April 26 the official mortuary report was finished yesterday. The total mortality was 133, as compared with 104 during the corresponding week of last year. Or tLe deaths 11 wero caused by grip, 27 pneu monia, 11 bronchitis, 2 laryngitis and 3 asthma. There were 14 deaths from nervous diseases; phthisis pulmonalis resulted fatally in 0 cases; cancers, 2 tubercular meningitis, 3; whooping cough, 2: cerebro spinal fever, 13; typhoid fever. 2; heart diseases, 7; pren.amre birth, 2; old age, l! debility. 2; suicide. 2; poison, 2; drowning, 2, and other violent causes, 3. In the Old City there were 34 deaths; East End, 61: Sontbside, 33, and institutions, 15. Tnere were 20 deaths of Infants under 1 year, 25 of children between 1 year and S years, 19 be tween the age of 5 and 20 years. 40 between 20 and CO years, 27 between 60 and 80 years, and 2 between 80 and 90 years.
