    JUDGE EWfMG TELLS
The Braddock Wire Mill Strikers
lo Be Very Careful.
PEEHAKEXT INJUNCTION GRAKTED
Forbidding Any Interference Whatever
With the Workmen.
IESTEEDAI IX THE CODKTI COURTS
Judge Ewing yesterday issued an injunc
tion against the strikers at the Braddock;
Wire Mill, to prevent their interference
with the workmen who have taken their
placet. The hearing va interesting and at
timet lively, and ihe Judge talked very
plaiulv to the men before him. The men
named in the application for the injunction
were Chris Goodwin, John Emery, Samuel
Hoffman, John Good, P. M. Mahon, O. D.
Btacy, Grant Cochran, George Scott. John
Trainor. T. Hays, W. Stemvtay, D. McLaugh
liu anil '.Squire John Glunt.
A number of the workmen were examined
and testified to assaults made on them by the
striken and the interference they were sub
jected to while on the ay lo and from their
or' While the witnesses were being ex
amined a young man named W. X. Strouthern
took a hand in and cross-examined them.
Judge Ewing fluaily directed btrouthern to be
worn.
'Why. I'm not in it," said Strouthern.
"Ves, foa are in it." replied Judge Ewing.
Strouthern was worn and placed on the
stand. It was soon developed that lie was a
Inend of tbe strikers and anything but partial
to tiie wrku. Judge Ewing gave him a
tevere lecture and told him to be careful or he
would get into trouble. He then placed him
tinder a bond of i50'i to keep away from the
Works and not mnle.t the men.
'bquire Glunt was another who was shown to
bo liiendly to tbe strikers. It was stated that
be would issue warrants against the workmen
lo-their arrest for carrying concealed weapons.
Judge Euinc delivered another lecture for
the benefit of 'Sauire Glunt and the officers in
the vicinity of the wcrfcs. He said that a man
In follow me his peaceful vocation, when
harassed and assaulted bj men on his way to or
from hi work, had a right to carry a weapon
knd to snoot dov, n the men who attacked him
in oroW to protect himself. The '.Squire, he
, (aid, bad no right to harass these people who
were trying to make an honest living
The injunction against 'Squire Glnnt and
the strikers was then grained. Constable
Best, who had been charged with aiding the
strikers, was exonerated and discharged.
When the men were leaving the court room.
Judge EiTicg mforced theui that they needn't
think that they were out of the power nf the
Court when tli :ylft the court loom. He In
tended to have theiu keep the injunction and
warned tnem no, to conspire and send other
men to do their bidding in molesting the work
men. He Slid the had hanged men in this
county for murder who bad been a mile away
when the deed was committed.
