Some sensational facts will no doubt be brought out in the trial here, March 18, on the motion td have a judgment of 510,000 against H. E. Suther land set aside. Mr. Sutherland's affidavit states that he is a merchant, and has been a resident of this place for 30 years. One week ago last Saturday two men one of them United States Marshal Barring en tered his store and arrested him. They read no warrant and hustled him off to "Wilkesbarre -without even permitting him to communicate with his family. At "Wilkesbarre he was not allowed to see his attorney. He was taken to an un frequented part of the city, into the third story of a building, where his fears were worked upon in every way Marshal Barring and Detective O'Brien. After this United States Commissioner Hahn released him until Monday. At tbe Luzerne Hotel. THEY THREW IHKSTAffDS. Fight in the Arkansas legislature Between Two Kepresentatives. LITTLE Rocs, March 12. Great excitement prevailed in the House of Representatives this afternoon, E. C. Mitchell, of Boone, and H. C. Head, of Little River, participating in a fight. The question of calling a Constitutional Con vention was under consideration. Mr. Sevier having introduced a substitute for the Senate bill providing that the question should be sub mitted to a vote of the people, instead of the Legislature calling the convention, as provided by the Senate bill. Mr. Head, an Indepeunent, said that from the vote cast two years ago in Boone county 370 for and 1,838 against the people did not want a Constitutional Convention. Mitchell said the people of Boone county were not like those of Little River county, who went about shaking hands with the niggers." The lie was then passed, and Inkstands, spittoons and other articles that were calculated to do injury were exchanged between the two men. in o one was injured aurinc the fight, but several mem bers were well bespattered with ink and tobacco juice. It Is Successfully Used by a Manufacturing Firm in Cuba. -- HAVANA, March 12, News from Cienf uegos states that the proprietors of a large sugar plantation near that city are converting Into sngar all the molasses produced on their estate. They use in this conversion a uew process, which has just been employed by them, and which affords admirable results. It is stated that no chemical agent enters into the opera tion, and that tbe sugar is naturally obtained by mixing tbe molasses from the centrifugals with the cane ground in the first mill.
