THE BULLS HATE CAUSE TO LAUGH, -Ai the Figures in the Keport Decidedly Faror Producers. SOME SEASONS FOB THE FALLING OFF II the producers so far have not met with the success anticipated in the passage of the JSurdick bill they surely can find some con solation in February's report. At no time since the shut down movement has the report presented such a bullish Aspect, and the producers have the best of reasons to expect better prices in the near 1 ntnre. The report of the entire field Mows a decline of 6.927 barrels as compared ttith January, or a falling off of about one-half of new production. In January there were 319 wells completed while in February tne finished list foots up 243, which is a decrease of 76. There Is an increase 'f three drilling wells, a decrease or SS rig and a total decrease or 35. It mar be said there are only two points of in terest in the field during tbe mon-h. One of these l a slight extension of the southwest line at Wildwood and tbe other is tbe birth of three or four fifth rand wells at McCurdyof more tban ordinary caliber. The figures for Butler county complete.show ine tbe work performed br the drill and tbe rig builder for tbe m-mth of February, are as fol lows: Wells completed, 52, of which 8erenf the dnster character; new production, 1.450 barrels; I grilling, 92: new rigs, 55. This shows abnnt a "Stand-off," vlib tbe exception of the new pro duction, which is a decline of about 400 barrels. Nearly all the little pools or oases shows a falling off, with the exception of Jefferson Center, Callery and Barniiny, where there Is sufficient new work tu offset ibe decline at other points. No well was completed in Butler county during the tuonth that has any direct importance In determining a new line nr open ing a new pool. In fact, the district has been pretty tliornngly perforated, everv town ship in tbe cnnntv baring been Invaded by the untiring and, in many cares, reekless operator. The famous Litlle Cre k (100-fool) is about ready to hare an inquest held over it. Tbe new wa-k is comparatively notning and many of the old wells bare ceased to produce. It is a notable fact when a 100-fonter becomes a non producer it is with a suddenness tbatis distress ing to its owner. Tbe horrible condition of tbe roads accounts in a measure for tbe decline in operations. Tbe indomitable will of the avei age operator, however, will overcome even this when desirable territory is apparently In sight. Tbe want of tbe latter appears to be about tbe else of it just now.
