MBEE f r THE PITTSBTma 'DISPATOH, WEDNESDAY. EEBRUART 18, 189!. k 1. i TEET BITTER FIGHT To Be Opened Between the Parnellites and HcCarthjites. COMING CAMPAIGN IN IRELAND. The Spring Tisit of the Queen of England to the Eiviera, BEE HAS CHOSEX GRASSE AS HEE ABODE fBT EUKLAP'B CABLE COXFA3TT.1 IOSDOJf,Feb.l7.Thechiefinterestinthe pending Irish dispute now centers around the campaign about to be opened in Ireland, find for which the HcCarthjites hare about completed their preparations. The author ized report of their meeting yesterday hardly conveys an adequate idea of the result of tbeir deliberations. An active, vigorous campaign was de cided upon and will be undertaken in ad vance. It will be well maintained even if to do so it is found necessary to deplete the Irish benches during the discussion of the ! Irish land bill. Between 20 and 30 Nation alists, including the unpopular Healy and popular Sexton, leave London also. To in sure for these orators a fitting reception, the priests have been communicated with and full directions sent out. Bitter Fight Against FarnelL The fight against Mr. Parnell will be bit 'ter and uncompromising, the leading advo cate of the "bread-and-milk" policy, the late editor of United Ireland, being safely 'jailed ana unable to take part in the campaign. It is urged that Mr. Parnell lias not heretofore spared bis opponents, and probably will not do polnthe future. Wby, therefore, should the McCarthy! tes not imitate his example? Lass evening Mr. Parnell held a lone and sltr .nlflcant interview vith Rev. Dr. O'Reilly, of Detroit, Mich., lately the Treasurer ot the Na tional League of America, In the smoking room of the House of Commons. It is understood that the reverend gentleman sides with the ex leader. Be associated last eveninc altogether with the Parnellites. The McCarthyites are In high feather over the receipt by tbeir leader of a power of attorney from Patrick Egan. transferring to him the control of 250 shares of the capital stock ot United Ireland. McCarthy Controls the Paper. This gives Mr. McCarthy control of a majori ty of the shares, and opens up the prospect of Tory lively times in Dublin, as the new leader proposes to do a little eviction on his own ac count and bestow on the disputed journal an editorial staff of his own way of thinking. Mr. Parnell will go to Ireland on Friday night. He has been invited to preside at the annual banquet of the Irishmen in London on St. Patrick's Day. The officials are congratulating themselves iupon the fact that 6,176 people, representing that number of families are now employed uoon the light railways in the west of Ireland, the appropriations for the construction ot which were made by Parliament early in the cession. The result of this Government meas ure of relief has already been to lanrely niiti rate the suffering in the congesteddlstricts and bridge over the most trying season of the year. VICTORIA'S SPRING JATJNT. She Will Take Up Her Eesidence at Grasse, Near Cannes. tBT DUXLAP'S CABLE COMPANY.! London, Feb. 17. The Queen has selected 'Grasse for her sojourn in the spring. The grand Hotel de Grasse has been rented on be half of Her Majesty. It is situated in a charm ing position overlooking the old town of Grasse, which stands on the slope of amount bin rising to a height of 1.090 feet above the level of the ses. It is ten miles inland to the north of Cannes, and from it an extensive view of the surrounding country is to be obtained. Close to the hotel is the Villa Victoria of the Baroness Alice de Rothschild, who was visited there last season by Her Royal Highness, the Princess Louise. Marchioness of Lome. The pleasant recollections of the visit taken away by her daughter have doubtless had some ' influence on the Queen's decision in favor of visitine Grasse. The Villa Victoria is too small, otherwise it would have been placed at the diSDosal of Her Majesty; but the hotel, which is the only building in the town of suffi cient size, has baen thoroughly examined by the Queen's agents, and has been declared by tbein to be admirably adapted to her require ments. As the hotel will be entirely occupied by Her Majesty and her suite, there will be little accommodation left in the town for vis itors. A SUSPICIOUS PACKAGE Thrown Overboard by a Passenger on an English steamer. tBT DUNLAT'S CABLE COXPANY.1 Boulogne, Feb. 17. As the steamer Albert Victor was leaving yesterday for Folkestone a passenger was observed to throw a packet into the harbor. It was fished out of the water and handed to the steward, who reported the mat ter to Captain HalL The packet weighed four pounds, and on being opened was f onud to contain a suspicious looking powder said to be dynamite. Captain Hall questioned the passenger, who, after some hesitation, admitted that the con tents were of an explosive nature, and urged the captain to throw the dangerous substance overboard. This Captain Hall declined to do, and on the arrival oft ho steamer at Folkestone had the man arrested. To the police the latter stated that his name wag Brown and his ad i dress Paris. London and Cork. He was taken to Loudon by detectives. A PRINCE'S DEBTS. He TTas a High-Roller and His Creditors are Obdurate. TBT DCXLAP'B CABLE COXFAlrT. Behlin, Feb. 17. Gossip is still busy with the affairs of Prince George Radziwill, who recently paid 5,000,000 marks (1,250,000) of gambling debts and still owes several millions; in conseqnence ot which he has been com pelled to resign from the German armv. It is understood that the Prince has offered to compromise with bis remaining creditors on a basis ot 10 per cent, but the largest of these, E. Howard, one ot the attaches ot the English Embassy, proves obdurate and insists on being paid In full. It is probable that Mr. Howard's connection with the British diplomatic service will, in consequence of his part in the aftalr, be brought to a sndden termination.
