The case of Chiel Jones was taken up by the Allegheuv Fire Committee last evening and referred to the Mavor. V. H. McGeary, Eq., appeared for William 'Winn, who charees Chief Jones with having held back 60 per cent of his salary as electrician in charge of the police patrol system. He also alleges that when he was to hae been re leastd the cni'l aked him to cut a police wire so that no one else could find it, thus showing that lie was valu ible to the city. The committee decided tliat it hid no jurisdiction in the matter and merely railed the Mayor's attention to it. Mr. McGeary said that his client would make the charges before the Mavor to-daj and demand that they be investigated Cinef Jones ha? so far refused to say anvthing about the matter.
