GEIST FROM THE WHEELS OP JUSTICE In the Supreme Court yesterday an argu ment was beard in the case of the Citizens' Natural Gas Company against the Sbenango Natural Gas Company, appealed by the plaintifl from the Common Pleas of Beaver county. The suit was an action to restrain the defendants from taking possession of some tubing which had been traded for six gas wells in Beaver county. The plaintiff company refused to deliver the pipe after getting possession of the wells, claiming it as a set-off for damages for loss they claimed to have tustained by the delay and negli gence of the defendants in fulfilling their part of the contract. The case oi P. J. Hineman against David Matthews, an action on the alleged illegal levy and sale of timber, appealed by Hine man from the Common Pleas of Venango county, was argued. . An "argument was heard in the case of the Linden Steel Company, Limited, against the Imperial Refining Company and the Titus llle Iron "Works. The suit was an action en a mechanics' lien, filed to re cover for material furnished for steel stills. It was appealed bv the plaintiff from the Common Pleas of Venango county. The appeal by the plaintiff Irora the Or phans Court of Westmoreland co nntv in the case 01 Adelbert Hume against Erasmus Hoeveler, executor of Clara Lebling, was argued. The mit was an action on a con tract for the sale of land. An argument was heard in the case of C. S. Marks for use of John, David and Stephen Pryer against Isaac Osmer. The case was appealed by the plaintiffs from the Common Pleas of Venango county. It was an action to recover the amount of legacies held as liens against property bought by Osmer at Sheriff's sale. An argument was heard in the case of Con rad Huffnagle against J. V. Blackburn, an action in ejectment for property m West New ton, appealed by the defendant from the Com mon Pleas ot 'W estmoreland connty. The appeal of J. Seward Brown from the Quarter Sessions Conrt of Westmoreland county was argued. Brown was convicted in the loner court of forcible detainer. Tbe case of J D. Lindley against J. B. Boss, H. R. McGlumphy and bamuel Lu'e. an action on a note appealed by tbe plaintiff from tbe Common Pleas of Greene county, was argued. LATJBA MYERS OK TRIAL. Concluj-i e E idenco Against Her for Shoot ing Charles Kansoine. Laura Myers, colored, was placed on trial before Judge Magee yesterday morning on a charge of tbe murder of Charles Ransome. Bansome was a colored man, 21 years ot age, and died at tbe West Fenn Hospital, June 12, 1890, from the effects of a gun shot wound in tbe abdomen, sustained two days previous in the yard back of the house of Samuel Cook, at Douglass station, on the Baltimore and Ohio Railroad. District Attorney Johnston con ducted tbe case for the Commonwealth andAt torney T. M. Marshall, Jr., and W. J. Brennen for the defense. k John White, a friend of Ransome, testified that or June 10.1890, he was with Bansome at the house of Mr. Cook, at Douglass station. Laura Myers was also present. About 5 o'clock in the "afternoon the defendant and Ran some went out into the yard. Shortly after, a shot was bred and Bansome came running into tbe bouse airain and cried that be had been shot. Dr. James McCann testified to the cause of Ransome's death W. L. Douglass, a Justice of the Peace of Elizabeth township, testified to taking the dying deposition of Ransome. It set forth that Laura Myers shot Ransome without the least provocation. John Douglass and George Hayden, two boys, testified to finding the revolver uith which the shooting was sup posed to have been done. They found tbe re volver near coot's residence. Louisa Weigel and her brother, Conrad Welgel, testified to hearing Bansome accuse Laura MyerB of shooting htm. Samuel Cook te;tlued that Laura Myers and Charles Ban some were visiting at his bouse. Tbe two latter were in good humor dunngthe dav, and had no quarrel of which he was aware. Elizabeth Cook offered similar testimouv. Benjamin Cook testified to hearing Bansome say: "Yon ain't going to shoot meT" to which Laura Myers replied: "Yes, I am." A shot was then fired. DENIES BEING A "WITCH. The Wife of the Russian Bathhouse Owner Wants a Divorce. Mrs. Zessel Mozersky yesterday filed a bill in equity and a suit for divorce against her husband. Aaron JUozersKj. She states they were married in Russia in 1S55 and lived to gether until July 19. Ib90. fche asserts that he called her a witcn and other names, spat in her face, abused her in many ways and finally drove her out of doors. About 20 years ago she inherited 1,000 rubles, equal to about $500, which she turned over to him. With the aid of it and ber labor and assistance, he is now worth about S12.000. In bis ill treatment of her he has threatened to mortgage or otherwise incumber his proper ty, so that she can get no benefit from it. It consists of propertv on Franklin street.included in which is a bathhouse. To prevent him from depriving ber of her rights sbonld she survive him, and defrauding ber of her $300, she asks tbe court to issue an injunction restraining him from incumbering or selling tbe property. Nesbit, is on trial before Judge White. Tno case is an action on an alleged contract. Their father bequeathed a farm to the two defendants. The plaintiff claims that they had agreed when they came into possession of the farm to sell tbe underlying coal and divide the proceeds with their brothers and sisters. The defend ants deny this and the plaintiff sued for his share of the talue of the coal on a basis of the alleged agreement. Suit Against the City. James Green, of the Diamond, has brought snit against the city for 52,400 for tearing away a stone wall in front of his residence on Den niston avenue. The suit will determine whether a citizen's property can be destroyed by the city without remuneration. The Board of Viewers offered Mr. Green J100 for the fence and said it was necessary to moTe it to make Dennis ton avenue a 50-foot street. Doing TJp a Laundry. Hunter, Crory 4.
