GOOD-BYE, MY LOVEH. Onr nrnvo Boldlor Hoys Rlart TliolrCampat Ml, Grclnn. for GAY BCENE8 AT THE UNION DEPOT. The Eighteenth Kejrlmont I-eaTes Last Mght to Tosto the PLEABDEES OF LIFE USDER CANVAS "Good b-e, Norab, Good bye." Korah waved her handkerchief to her pallant soldier boy, and the soldier in embryo wared Ills cap at hii sweetheart until he and hli comrade! were loit In the smokv hare of the station on their way to ML. Gretna. Not one Norab, but many bade adieu to the boys of the Eighteenth Beglment at the Union depot last night when they embarked on board the fourth section of No. 4. the Fait line, en route for the camp at Mt Gretna. It was past 8:30 o'clock when the regi ment. consisting of nine companies, and about 850 strong, headed by its fife and drum crops, debouched on Liberty avenue from "Wood street and halted along the 11 cars which had been drawn up on the ave nue, between Ninth and Tenth streets, to receive them. The assembly had taken place at the armorv, at the junction of Old avenue and Diamond street, and the route taken to the train was alone Diamond alley to Grant street, to Fifth avenue, to Wood and Liberty avenue. The marching of the regiment was as creditable as could be desired under the circumstances. IK HEAVY MAECHHf G OEDEE. The men were in heavy marching order, including kit, etc, and many of them sported very unmilitary looking grins and satchels slung across their shoulders. A hos pital sergeant and five orderlies canyinc three field ambulances broucht up the rear. At the cars the regiment, speaking generally, em harked anyhow. ... , The men were put on board uy companies, and every captain used his discretion as to how he moved bis men for the purpose. That the regiment will be better for a little squad drill was very apparent. Some the ranks did not know their left from their right. Bat. if the officers are in earnest there Is a severe probability that they will know their -bay foot" from their -straw foot" by the time thev return. Some of the Captains ma neuvered their companies "right by rives" others "left by two" and some dismissed the men and let them get on board as they could. A Pullman sleeper accommodated tbeoffl. cers and the representatives of the press. The former included: Colonel orman M. Smith, In command: Major J. C. Kay; Lieutenant Colonel Frank Routledge: Lieutenant Colonel Htreeter, ot the Tenth; Major Sam Hailett, of General Wiley's staff, and Ordnance Officer of Becond Brigade, Adjutant C. L. Reese; Rifle Inspector A. L. Pearson, Jr.: 8urgeon U C. Wylle and Assistant Burgeons Brumbaugh and Robson. The cars occupied by the rank and file were or the "immigrant" pattern. AW ADVANCE OtJABD. The third section of No. 4 conveyed a detail ot about 40 men ot the Tenth Regiment under Quartermaster E. Robblns, and a detail of ten men from each company of the Fourteenth Regiment under Captain Tim. Those went on to sot up the canvas and prepare for tbo roceo tlon of their respective regiments, which will leave on Haturday. Any men of the Eighteenth Regiment who could not fall In lt night are ezpoclod to re port at tbo Eighteenth Armory on Saturday evening at 7 o'clock, under command of l.lou tenanl William Dook, and thence proceed to camp. The ramp opens on Monday, anil the men will he under pay for dve days. Thoy will bo in ramp altogether about tun days. Of the National Ouarrt there will bo present tlm first six regiments, the Eighth. Tenth. Klaventh, Twelfth, Thirteenth, Fourteenth, FiUecmh, sixteenth. Eighteenth and tlio Mtnto Fnnelbles. or the regular army them will bo two light batteries of artillery, and six companies of Infantry 'Urn bujs HI return not rjulto so light lieailtd as they went auay, as Lieutenant Colonel Hlreater remarKed, "The camp will Ho under strict illiclpllnn, the regular being with us for the purport) or showing the boys what army life means.'
