Demand for the Ohio Scale May Cause a Bi g Btrike in the West A BIT'S EYEKTS IN THEEE STATES rerrciAi. telegram to the Disr.iTcn.1 Columbus, July 14. The meeting of the Executive Board of the National Mine workers of America, to be held here to morrow, will be of unusual interest and Importance. The board will coniider the Dunbar disaster, and it is not improbable steps will be taken to institute heavx dam age suits against the company owning the mine. Should the suits be brought they will be instituted by the "United Mine workers' Association, in behalf or the victims of the disaster. The association will furnish the finances necessary and the nits will be instituted in the names of the de pendent relations. Another matter of national interest, con cerning which action will be taken, is the situ ation in Illinois, where the miners are demand ing an increase in their scale of waxes. The trouble between the miners and operators in that State has reached such a state that it is regarded as quite probable that the Executive Board will to-morrow order out about 30,000 men, thus precipitating the largest strike in tbe West for nuny years. The Northern Illi nois operators acreed to grant an advance of iyi cents a ton, on condition that the Southern Illinois operators keep nice with tbem in the pavment of wages. Unless tho increase is granted, tbe board will demand that the scale be made the same as in Ohio and Pennsyl vania. DEATH OF AN SUPEEAHiniATE.
