A FATAL LANDSLIDE.
Three Persons Killed nnd Qnito a Number
Srrlouslr Injured.
Tkot, N". Y., March 13. A calamity, re
sulting in the death of three persons, oc
curred in the lower part of the city at 3
o'clock this morning. Tons of clay and
moistened earth swept down "Warren's Hill
and carried before it a double brick house,
situated on the cast side of Havcrman's ave
nue, about 100 feet south of "Washington
street. The occupants of the house were 1G
in number. The killed are:
MRS. JOHAXXA HOGAX, aged 40 vears,
widow.
MRS. MARY 'OONAN, her mother, aged 88
a ears.
ANNIE BURNS, grandchild of Patrick Can-
Held, aged 11 J cars.
One of the most singular features of the
disaster is the fact that all the persons in
the building who were not killed outright,
succeeded in extricating themselves lrom
the mortar, bricks and timber unassisted.
Before help had arrived they xrcre safe on
the street, mingling with the crowd and
helping in the search lor the buried bodies.
The clay bank is hundreds of feet high,
towering at an angle ot 45 from the dwell
ings on Haverman's avenue.

For several months past we have made prepara
tions lor this event The fruit of our labor is now
ripe, and we cordially invite you to call and partici
pate in the success that has crowned our efforts. We
will commence with our grand variety of
KILT : SUITS,
SIZES 2 TO .
No previous season has brought forth such a
wide diversity of styles. And the cream of all has
been secured by us. The great merft and originality
of our designs, the excellence of our workmanship,
and the good taste displayed in the selection and
blending of fabrics are striking characteristics of our
stock of Kilt Suits. The principal materials are Vel
vets, Corduroys, Tricots, .Cassimeres, Scotches, Drap
d'Etes, Drap d'Almas, Jerseys, Homespuns, etc As
an index of our low prices, we will open the season
by offering for
$3.00
Choice
Consisting of one, two and three-piece styles, includ
ing some of the most desirable novelties of the season.
SHORT-PANT SUITS,
SIZES 4 TO 14r3
Short-Pant Suits this season show a marked de
parture from conventional models. The tendency is
decidedly in the direction of French designs, and
away from the serviceable but commonplace pleated
coat and plain three-piece suit. Our stock is a vir-
tual galaxy of new and pretty styles. Many of our
novelties have been imported by ourselves, and can
not be found elsewhere. One of our most aristocratic
looking styles is what we christened the "East End
Full Dress." The soft roll, silk-faced coat and low
cut Vest of this Suit are entirely new features. As an
opening specialty we will offer for
Choice from 750
Shnrt-Pant Suits.

A
Catarrh
S a blood disease. Until tne poison la
expelled from the system, there can
be no cure for this loathsome and
dangerous malady. Therefore, the only
effective treatment is a thorough course
of Ayer's Sarsaparilla the best of all
blood purifiers. The sooner yon begin
the better ; delay is dangerous.
"I was troubled with catarrh for over
two years. I tried various remedies,
and was treated by a number of physi
cians, but received no benefit until I
began to take Ayer's Sarsaparilla. A
few bottles of this medicine cured me of.
tnis troublesome complaint and com
pletely restored my health." Jesse M.
Boggs, Eolman's Mills, N. O.
""When Ayer's Sarsaparilla was rec
ommended to me for catarih, I was in
clined to doubt its efficacy. Having
tried so many remedies, with little ben
efit, I had no faith that anything would
cure me. I became emaciated from loss
of appetite and impaired digestion. I
bad nearly lost the sense of smell, and
my system was badly deranged. I was
about discouraged, when a friend urged
me to try Ayer's Sarsaparilla, and re
ferred me to persons whom it had cured
of catarrh. After taking half a dozen
bcttles of this medicine, I am convinced
that the only sure way of treating this
obstinate disease is through the blood."
