THE PITTSBURG DISPATCH, SATURDAY, MARCH 15, 1890. .ER FORGOTTEN. Enjoyments Should Kot Pre cede the Prayer-Meeting. DOXOLOGY SUXG WITH A WILL By tho Grand Audience Assembled in The Metropolitan Tabernacle. 50TES OP INTEREST IN CHDKCE LIFE. If we promise to accompany a (riend to the theater, a party, or any place of amuse ment, although we may not put it in writing in our book of engagements, we are not apt to forget it, or tail to put in an appearance near the appointed time. So those who truly and sincerely desire the chuich to be of any real benefit to the world, in making their arrangements for their Bocial enjoy ments, will not forget that the church of which they are members has claims on them not only on the Sunday, but at the hour for mid-week praTer. It may hare been, but Scriptures give no record of it, that Peter was absent because it was a little too hot, or James would not be there because he feared it was too cold. Did Bartholomew remain at home because it was too wet, or Mary because her veil was a little out of style? Think you that Salome did not go because there was a party in Jerusalem, or Paul or John because the lodge met that same night? Do yon imagine tbat James the Less would not be among the number, because he felt Peter was taking too much on himself? Nnl John might thank God at every prayer meeting that lie was a God of love, or the others wight be a little monotonous in their ex pressions or fealty and loyalty to the cause espoused by the Nazarene, still they were there, because they w ere members of the church and felt its success depended not on one, but on them all. So it should bo to-day. If ne truly desire to see the nork prosper we shall be will ing to work and tacrince for it. Let church members to-day not forget, "They were all with one accord in one place." Go with pure mind and feeling. Fling earthly thoughts a ay And. in thy chamber kneeling. lio thou in secret prav. Prav there lor those w ho love thee, AH who are loved by thee: Pray, too, for those w ho hate thee. It any sueh there be Or, K 'tis e'er denied thee In solitude to prav, bbonldbolj thoughts come o'er thee hen friends are roaud thy way, Even then the silent breathing Of thy spirit raised above Shall reach Ills throne of mercy Who is nil, truth and love. It is sur prisingly prevalent; we see it in the church, theater, on the street, and wherever ladies con gregate. This is one of tho most distressing and an noying blemishes that any lady can be afflicted with. The use of depilatories, tweezers, scissors or razors all make these hairs grow harsher, coarser and more numerous, as hundre' of ladies know to their sorrow. Dr. J.
