"Many works are now in operation only five days in the week, but the output is equal to the demand. A strange mystery has been unearthed at Pb.il lipstmrc, where a lot of human bones have been found in a sack. Events and accidents in nearby towns. IEFZCLU. TZX.ZQ&1X TO THE DISPATCH.1 Scottdaie, February 19. The coke market is rather depressed, and there is no visible improvement. This is attributed to the jump in prices and the consumers hav ing a good supply on hand. With the as surance that the works will be run through the year, they are ordering in comparatively small lots. The output is equal to the de mand. Despite the fact that orders from new firms are coming to the coke region, many operators have reason to lay the works idle one day each week until trade improves. Shipments note a decrease since our last re port. The Dispatch correspondent interviewed an operator to-day who said: The falling off in shipments is dne to the f nrnaees east and west of Pittsburg having a large supply and, of course, as they ordered in large lots to meet an emergency, they will now order in small lots until their immense stock is reduced. I do not "know of any f nrnaees intendinc to shut down, and 1 think the spring trade will be quite fair." SlttXIiEB PITTSBTJEQ SHIPMENTS. , In reference to new oven building, he said: "I do not think' there will be many more new ovens, except those already in course, of con strnctlon, which have been previously men tioned." A slight Increase Is noted in Western ship ments but Eastern and Pittsburg shipments have decreased. The ontput of the Stewart Works has been somewhat retarded by the men laying off. Many of the Frick works in the reeion are idle, to-day, and there is every indication that the works will make bnt five days a week until there is a marked increase in orders. It is already said that some orders have gone to the Virginia fields because of the advance In the price of coke, and the operators in that district are taking advantage of it, and will build many new ovens. Bennett fc Talbot, the Greensbnrg contractors, have obtained the rnntract to build 300 new ovens at Bramwell, Va., and the work of crading will be com menced shortly. The report is well founded that work will be commenced some time next month on the new railroad from Bollsbnrg, V. Vx, by way of Bruceton Mills, to Uniontown. This will, of course, develop a new field. It Is Understood that H. C. Frick owns considerable land along the route. The shipments last week averaged about 1,205 cars per day. or 7,235 cars for the entire week, a falling off of 370 cars. The shipments were consigned as follows: To points west of Pittsburg. i575 cars: to Pittsburg, 1,300 cars: to points east of Pittsburg, 1.300 cars.' PEICES ADVANCED. Great excite ment prevailed here this afternoon over the finding of a sack containing a portion of the remains of two bodies, which included two skulls, one foot covered with flesh and other bones. They were discovered in an asbpile, while the latter was being removed. The flesh on the foot and on one of the skulls indicated that death mast have been recent. Whether it Is a case of body snatching or evidence of fonl play remains a mystery. It is thought one of the bodies was that ot a colored man. The authorities have taken charge of the sack and contents, and will use every effort to solve the mystery. SATED A COMRADE'S LIFE. VThtle Performing- a Heroic Act an Italian Loses His Lee. fEPECIJU.
