The following letter was received by us and speaks for itself. We are making two deliveries a day - one at 10 A. M. and one at 2:30 P. M. We believe with your continued cooperation that we can continue to do so. We have been warning that if drastic steps were not faken to curtail deliveries in order to save such orders would be issued by Washington. This You must read these carefully and fines and prison sen rubber, gasoline and other vital materials, that is now an actuality since these orders were issued on April 273, adiust vour business to the order. Violations of this order are punishable by tences. As briefly as possible the order is as follows: After June 1 local carriers using rubber tires MUST reduce their total mileage by at least 25 each month as compared with the corresponding month in 1941. Sharply curtails the type of services which might be performed by both local delivery and long haul over-the-road trucks. The order affecting local delivery trucks forbids them to make any special deliveries except to hospitals and the armed forces of the UU, 8S, and emergency deliveries of supplies necessary to protect the public health, life and safety. Effective May 15, it will prohibit call-backs and will forbid more than one delivery by the same carrier to the same person on any one day. The mileage saved by the elimination of call-hacks and special deliveries MUST BE IN ADDI TION to the 25°. reduction. Regulations for long distance over-the-road hauls will become effective June 1. Their purpose is to eliminate less than capacity loads by a general overhauling of schedules and a pooling of facilities. Violations of this order are punishable by fines and imprisonment, (We have not, as vet, been able to determine what these will be. ¥ Call your orders in on time that they can be sent to you on one of the above deliveries.
