The machine narrowly missed striking a telephone pole. Damage was confined to one headlight, fen- der and running board. Ward Fleming and daughter, Winifred, and Miss Mary Catherine Walker, all of East Linn street, narrowly escaped injury Fri- day afternoon when the car in which they were returning from a, trip to Philipsburg skidded off the road between Wingate and Miles burg and crashed into a telephone pole. Mrs. Fleming was driving at the time, and the car skidded when it struck a patch of ice on the road.
