Koch, in Ger- many, systematized and applied it to the diseases of man, and Dr. Herman Biggs, in America, organized it as a practical clement in the control of discase. Through endless research, experiment and clinical experience, this science of bacteriology has made possible definite and effective progress against many terrors of mankind The spread of discase germs by means of water, milk and other foods is being controlled with conspicuous success Typhoid has dropped a remarkable degree in every civilized community, through purification of the water supply and use of vaccine. Through testing of cattle and supbrvision of milk supplies, the prevalence of many discases has been greatly reduced - « typhoid, tuberculosis of the glands, joints and spine, diphtheria, scariet fever, septic sore throat and infant diarrhea. Supervision of food dispensaries has done much to give us cleaner, purer foods of every kind Pasteur, in 1585, developed a vaccine against rabies. was his last contribution to Science. o This 4 RMACIST Yr PRESCRIPTIONS 1S THE MOST IMPORTANT PRAT OF DUR “Telling the Public About the Doctor” appears weekly in this paper A at wi— u Lamar Gel [8 plant, engi Call o.! i “ haul T—— Bellefonte Pa t | POR RATES Advertisements of twenty-five words or less, 25 cents for | and 15 cents for each additional insertion.
