We are publishipg it with the hope that the old Patron Saint of the Yuletide season will discover it in time to reward the senders: “Bellefonte, Pa, R, D, 1, Box 179, ‘Dear Santa: “We are now celebratng the days of preparation of our Lord's coming down on earth, where we poor sinners are. He will try to make us all lve right, then take us some day with Him in heaven. We'll be happy with Him. Our dear Lord was so poor He had no bed to sleep in, no fire to keep Him warm. “Our parents and we all try to work hard to keep our dear little home. Our dear mother has worked hard all her life, for (ttle pay. Now our mother has broke down; she can't work any more. All she can do is pray to our Lord to help her to get well Most of the time she is In tears because she can't work any more. We hope and pray our Lord Jesus will help our mother to get well once more, because we are too young to part with our deey mother “Santa, we are so poor. Our debts take all that we make, We work hard all the year round on the farm, for smnall pay--then besides having bad luck in our family “Oh, Dear Santa, we don't have any money to buy clothes, We hope that Santa knows all about it and has the kind heart to send us poor sorry children a little gift to make our hearts happy for Christmas Day. Our father worked hard in the quar- ry for many vears to buy our little home, The Lord shall bless all the people in the world, especially those who need it very badly “Your thankful children of unlucky Mrs. Orsola Plozner. “We wish everyone a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year." Morning wor o'clock, the Church school will present “The Shepherd's Stafl”—a Christmas pageant by Marian Morris. In this pag- eant the stage is set for a typical Christmas celebration, Candles are gleaming everywhere. David, the shepherd, appears. Addressing his staff, he regrets that the star and the song of Bethlehem alone have survived as symbols of Christmas and prays that the shepherd's staff, as a symbol of practical responsibility In answer to the Christmas challenge, might too, find a place again, truly leading to Bethlehem. In answer to his prayer that, to that end, an angel might touch the eves and ears of these 20th century people, that angel appears and promises that so it shall be. All kinds of symbolic pilgrim groups then appear, having all kinds of impediments which prevent them from reaching Bethichem They are all offered the shepherd's staff but refuse it, as it interferes with their Impediments (torches of wrong ambition, bonds of selfish. ness, bandages of ignorance, etc.) But they finally see the light, « sili card what has hindered them and accept the staf! that Jeads to Bethie- hem St. John's Lutheran, Bellefonte The Rev.
