Most of the farmers of our valley are through husking corn and those who have room in their barns for the fodder have it hauled in and stored, and those who enjoy hunt- ing are passing their leisure hours in that sport, but so far the writer has not heard of a single turkey be- ing shot in our valley, but a good number of rabbits and squirrels On Monday afternoon Mr. and Mrs. James Shaffer attended the funeral of his mother, Mrs. Jesse Shaffer. who died on Thursday af- ternoon at the home of her son Cy- rus Shaffer near Curtin, and was buried on Monday at Zion. Services were held in the Zion Lutheran church. The sorrowing children and friends have our deepest sympathy in their bereavement.
