What the Pittsburgh newspaper had in mind was the declaration of this Superior Court Judge, who hangs to his job in deflance of the canon of ethics of the American Bar Association, that a vote for Governor Earle for United States Senator, Charles Alvin Jones for Governor and others on their ticket, is a vote for war. With somewhat flat effort at hu- mor, Judge James said that the same charges made against “George (IID) of England might be made against Governor George of Penne sylvania.” Such statements indicate that the silly season of the campaign is run- ning far ahead of custom, How much more silly the next weeks wil] become is for Judge James and his associates to determine. It has long been a Republican trick in Pennsylvania to inflame the voters by waving the bloody shirt of the Civil War or to cruelly trick the workingman with the argument er as empty as when the people of this nation evicted the Republicans at Washington. Apparently the pres- ent Republican state leadership thinks the voters can still be fooled by such inflammatory chatter and propaganda Why do not the Republican strat egists get down to cases? Let the Republican candidates say they are determined to make a bonfire, of some but of all legisiation enact ed during the Earle Administration That will include public utility regulation, laws regulate child labor and the philos- ophy written into many other laws | that human rights are always su-| perior to property rights, There Is something to discuss in 4 campaign. Let the Republicans | take their stand on what they will do if returned to power. Let the pledges be specific. After forty years of the “spoils system” will the Re- publicans enact civil service, extend- ing it even further than the Demo- crats did? Charles Alvin Jones very properly is alluding to the Republican design to abolish the present Public Utility Commission and turn the whole question of regulation back to the utilities which had it until the Dem- ocrats took office As the Pittsburgh Press says let real issues be discussed instead of the “sort of popycock preached by the opposing ) Judge of the “dinner pall” Which was nev- | James. relief measures, | to’ Guards Body of Aged Man Resists Efforts Neighbors to Aid Farmer Thrown From Horse Animal of VICTIM DIES FROM SEVERE HEAD INJURIES Bald Eagle Man Found Uncon- scious on Sparsely-Travel- ed Back Road prominent wi allernoon Matilda id= back road teadin 8 to the J 0 render ¢ Mr. Stivers able lance be- Causal ater to t route the hospi wd consciousness unable cident de to for a to tell “The in regay time Was nas the be horse eR ied Lhe the ramj nrown Oy froy rom 5 Te £8 vd Sti a8 § orn of John (Continued on page SX) ——————— NEW PRECINCT STATE COLLEGE Judge Walker to File Order Today Creating 3rd Election Division in Boro. an Walker is r todat direct today dire will be bot the Park avenue, and west by ough line Through inded ot south by and on the north, east the State College bore the establishment of the new division, Lioyd B.
