_THE CENTRE DEMOCRAT, LEN PA. January 27, 1938 Clarence Introduces Town and Folks | In Newsy Letter of Late Happenings Howdy folks, let me make you acquainted with Clarence, which is located in Snow Shoe township, Centre county. It is the lurgest town in this township, is a coal mining center; has a thriving brickyard business; is lsted on the New York Central Rallroad as Snow Shoe station. Clarence has a second-class post office, three churches, approximately 350 puplls in eight separate grades; seven stores, six filling stations, thiee garages, a hotel, theatre and res- | taurant. Really, Clarence is an up | and coming town. It may have its foreign element and a reputation to live down but show us any min ing | any better. | orodes all during the past week. Heretofore it has been a bit back- | F getting itself publicized | but give us an opportunity and you | corumunity that is ward in may want to claim residence there pronto. Of course the “Office Cat” may criticize Clarence girls but he | doesn't say much about local bach- | elors, old maids, widows, etc. so if | you should find your name in print take it good naturedly and be grateful that you are at last get- | ting more for your money when purchasing the best County paper. Remember the winter i8 not in- | fallible. This column is non-politi- cal, non-sectarian and shows no favoritism, so don't feel too bad if | you find yourself! misquoted, mis- | judged, etc. This issue is only an experiment, Give us your coopera- tion in gathering facts. Emenate a favorable reaction to a worthy en- terprise and the project may war- rant its merits, News here written may include any within the radius of represen- tatives attending Clarence schools.
