Y A A Ff fro an THE CENTRE DEMOORAT, BELLEFONTE, PA . FEBRUARY 20, 1902 - - tts ——————— CORRESPONDENTS’ | DEPARTMENT ‘Happenings About Centre County Briefly Told by A CORPS OF ABLE WRITERS Our Alert Correspondents Note Many Important Events in Different Lo- calities—What is Transpiring—Is Your Section Represented ? Highvalley. The Harris-Meek libel suit took up so | much of our time that we could furnish no,items for several weeks. It seems wild cats are plenty; two weeks ago Jacob Elver from Rankeltown, | passed Ingleby with a monster wild cat, and last Wednesday Dr. Barker killed the second one for this winter, and. Jess | Snyder said he saw one in J. O Eisen huth's barn about a week ago. The troiley line mentioned some time ago is stopped and will not run on ac- | count of the scribes leaving, Billy Alters is still in the valley cutting props, he says it was cold on the moun tain, Samuei Snyder and his dady-in-law, William Snavely, have stocked up the wood pile, Thomas Keen has still part of his mill at Ingleby. John Barker at Ingleby lost a valuable colt last week by hanging itself—sorry for John. The real estate agent said this cold weather has killed all the bugs at east end of the valley—nothing is left but the smell. Jess Snyder has made the contract for the peach trees which he will set cat this coming spring. The Ingleby lumber king has not made his appearance yet, but mussey did ; she said money is no name-—all a person has to do is to work and the money will come into pocket without hum knowing it. The items from Coburn last week threw a kind of slur on Dr. Barker, he said Dr, Barker and Em'l Eisenhuth, from Fersonda Daul were in town; that | is not correct, as Em’l Eisephuth has not been in town for the last four weeks well he may not have his specs on ; such things can happen. Now scribe if the people all were fixed as well as Dr Barker in Fersonda Daul, the smoke house and chicken house would not be visited so often. Ouve thing more, if Dr. Barker wanted to go he can sit behind a pair of matched nags; well so can the scribe, but his match is of the feather tribe, a pair of old ganaers, The latest from Owl Hollow says a rumpus took place one day last week between Mrs. William Sheeley and the real estate agent; after the rumpus be made his bundle and struck for Rankel- town where he will tend to his profes sional business. Tuesday was election—Highvalley gave the republicans a send off, and in next fall's election we will drive them to South Africa where there is weeping ana gnashing of teeth. Tylersville, Last Monday Harvey Haugh, of Cave, while helping bis brother props, lost a valuable horse. They a lot of props up the mountain jammed behind a tree, and the team down in the hollow, and when the tree was cut, the props started down the mountain pe mell; striking the team, breaking three legs of one horse. Mr. Haugh escaped by the skin of his teeth. The horse was shot immediately. Those on the sick list are as follows Mrs. W. D. Kerstetter, Mrs. Eva Day.
