Emerick, our obliging landlord, poor overseer, was to Jacksonville on Monday on business, Some of young folks attended a dance at Hecla on last Friday night and re. port having had a good time. The dime sociable on Satardav night WAS a success, there being a large crowd in attendance ; quite a number of Zion and Hublersburg young folks were pres ent and also some of the Tamar and lintondale young folks; those present seemed to enjoy themselves very much and reported the ice cream and cake to be the best of the season. Samael and Jerry Miles, of Nebraska, have been visiting at the home of their uncle's, Ben and Israel Yearick's the past few weeks, Misses Annie Weaver, of Hublersburg, visited Miss Eleanor Shaffer day. Miss Carrie Bitner, of Rote, is visiting her mother and frien ds here at present. over sane On last Wednesday night two sled loads of our jolly Nittany people drove to the hospitable home of John Harris's, of near Lamar, to spend the evening and were royally entertained ; the amused themselve ing down the large hill at that place, while the older folks staved in the house and amused themselves by telling stories and of past good times. About 11 p m., they all joined in singing some choice selections after which they took their de- parture for their respective homes Thus another evening was well spent and all wish to thank Mr, Harris and family for the pleasant time shown them while present. On last Friday Miss Bertha Webver met with quite a painful accident ; while on her way to the barn with two pails of water, striking her side on the edge of the bucket which caused her a great deal of pain.
