Successful Assembly, Last Friday evening a very pleasant social event took place in the Armory. It was the first of the series of assemblies given by the young people of Bellefonte. The large armory was handsomely dec. orated and looked exceedingly pretty on this occasion. Music wae furnished by lettan & Chappel's orchestra, of Williamsport, A large number of guests were present from adjoining towns. Two more assemblies will be given, on August 13th and 27th, The Eclipse. Owing to the cloudy sky Thursday morning, the solar eclipse was not seen very satisfactorily here. Ocasionally the shifting clouds would unveil the sun's face and allow the watchers, around with smoked glass, to catch a glimpse of the spectacle which iz one of the most interesting in nature, The sun when visible looked like a big cookie with a bite taken out of it. This will be the last solar eclipse visible on this conti- nent in the nineteenth century. Don’ t Forget.
