As Ezeta was sitting at lunch in the dining room of his hotel Pedro Jimnes, a Salvadorean walked up to the table at which Ezeta and a party of friends were seated and spat in the face of the ex-president. Ezota sprang at Jimnes, who drew a pistol and pulled the trigger.
