The truth dewned upon the old gentlemen, Eighty-seven years from that day Mr, Resides was ushered into existence, and when he was ro- minded that it was his birthday and that his children, grandehilden and friends had gathered in honor of the event, he was dumfounded. Quickly recovering, however, he bade all a hearty welcome, Tke entire day was spent in amusements of all kinds. Reminescences of old times were related by the old, while the younger ones indulged in innocent games to their hosrts content, The guests had all come supplied with plenty of good things to eat, and when the tables were spread they presented an elegant and tempting ap- pearance. Ninety-four persons were present, including five sons with their wives, and five daughters accompanied by their husbands. Eighteen grand children were also present To say that the day was pleasant both to the guests and host, would be drawing it mild, Everybody was delighted, and upon departing wished Mr, Resides many more years of bappioess and prosperity.
